Pows Won’t Get Privileges

From Staff And Wire Reports

Members of the House Transportation and Defense Committee have voted down a proposal to grant special license plates and vehicle registration free to former prisoners of war and their widows.

Members of the committee said Wednesday they were concerned it would set a precedent, drawing similar requests from other groups that get special plates.

“Then we would have another, and another and another,” said Rep. Frank Bruneel, R-Lewiston.

Sponsors said there are 143 former POWs living in Idaho. But they had no information on the number of widows.
