Death Of North Side Man Treated As Homicide By Police

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man’s body was found in a North Side apartment Saturday morning, and police are investigating the death as a homicide.

The manager of the four-plex at 3012 N. Hogan called police about 11 a.m. because neighbors were worried they hadn’t seen the man who lived in unit No. 1 since early in the week, said major crimes detective Don Giese.

Police found the man dead inside. There were no obvious indication as to what caused his death, Giese said.

Detectives combed the ground-floor apartment for nearly eight hours before removing the body Saturday night.

Police are waiting until an autopsy is complete to call the death a homicide, Giese said. He added detectives collected evidence as if the man had been murdered.

Giese said the man was in his 40s, but declined to provide anymore information about the victim until he was positively identified.
