Heady Mustard

If pretzels and mustard are a perfect match, and pretzels and beer, then why not beer and mustard?

Sierra Nevada, one of California’s top craft breweries (that’s industry lingo for an overgrown microbrewery), makes a trio of mustards using its ales: a mild, sweet Pale Ale Honey Spice, a rich, Dijon-style Spicy Brown Porter and an earthy, fairly fiery Stoneground Stout, in the German beer hall tradition.

And the best part is you don’t have to worry about dipping and driving.

Price: About $3 to $4.50 for 8 ounces.

Available: In Spokane at Jim’s Home Brew Supply, 2619 N. Division, and at Huckleberry’s Fresh Markets (South Hill and Spokane Valley).
