Miss Spokane Contest Entry Deadline Friday

Friday is the last day applications will be accepted for the 1997 Miss Spokane Scholarship Program.

The contest is open to young women between the ages of 17 and 24. There will be four areas of judging: interview, physical fitness in swimsuit, evening gown and talent.

The 1997 Miss Spokane pageant is scheduled for Oct. 18 at Spokane Falls Community College. Miss Spokane’s duties will include being the official hostess for the city of Spokane and making several public appearances.

A scholarship between $3,000 and $5,000, depending on the amount of funds raised by organizers, will be awarded to the winner. Scholarship amounts for the first and second runners-up will be determined at a later date.

The winner of the contest will go on to compete in the Miss Washington Pageant in June 1998. The winner of that contest will go on to the Miss America pageant.
