Nagano Sets Record With 79 Countries

A record 79 countries and territories, including North Korea and Iraq, have signed up to compete at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, the IOC said.

If all 79 compete in Nagano, it would surpass the record of 67 that participated in the 1994 Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway.
