Wells Fargo Will Open Safeway Branch

(From For the Record, June 18, 1997:) Incorrect address: The Safeway store where Wells Fargo plans to open an in-store bank branch is located at 1617 W. Third. The address was reported incorrectly in a business story in Tuesday’s Spokesman-Review.

The store at 1617 W. First in Spokane is among 11 Safeway locations in Washington where Wells Fargo plans to open a new branch, bank Vice President Tom Unger said.

The facility, which should open by the end of the year, will have a staff of four providing a full range of banking services, he said.

The cost and size will depend on the amount of space available and extent of the renovation necessary, Unger said.

Typical square footage is 200 to 600.

The other locations Wells Fargo and Safeway intend to open this year are on the west side of the state. More are planned next year.
