Vandals Paint Mysterious Symbol

Police are investigating graffiti vandalism to several downtown Coeur d’Alene businesses.

Someone spray painted a triangular symbol on more than seven businesses in the downtown Coeur d’Alene area between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, police officials said.

Among the targets hit: City hall, the Social Security building and The Coeur d’Alene Press building.

The symbol is of an upside-down triangle with the number 7 in the middle and the letters SUL in the upper right hand corner.

It appears the vandal used a stencil to spray the symbols on the buildings. The symbol was sprayed on about eight windows at the Social Security office.

“This graffiti has not been tied to any particular individual or groups so far,” said Coeur d’Alene Police Capt. Carl Bergh.

Bergh asked that anyone with information about the symbol or about the crimes call the police department at (208) 769-2320.
