Shawn Kemp will be fined and must come off the bench for at least one more game for missing Seattle’s team flight and practice Saturday.

The five-time All-Star was used from the bench Sunday at Phoenix and will be again Tuesday night at home against the Los Angeles Lakers.

“He’ll be substantially fined, and our policy is if you miss a practice, you don’t start the next game,” coach George Karl said. “I’m probably going to carry that for at least the next few games.”

Kemp missed the team flight to Phoenix on Saturday morning and never made the midafternoon practice. Kemp said he showed up later.

“There’s no problem,” he said.

However, Karl said he was concerned about his star’s behavior.

“This is a team thing,” Karl said. “When he affects the practices and affects circumstances involving everybody, that’s a concern.”
