Shelter, Food Grants Available

From Staff And Wire Reports

A pot of national money is available for Kootenai County nonprofit groups that help the homeless and hungry.

The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board program is offering $66,216, said Lynn Peterson. She serves on a local board that will determine how the money is distributed.

Organizations interested in sharing in the grant money should contact Peterson by Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul, phone 664-3095.

The money is appropriated by Congress. Last year, Kootenai County organizations received a total of $53,657. They were the Post Falls, Rathdrum and Spirit Lake seniors centers; the Coeur d’Alene Tribe; the Presbyterian, St. George and St. Pius soup kitchens; Children’s Village; St. Vincent de Paul, and the Women’s Center. , DataTimes
