Delmer Swatman Moscow, Idaho
Viewing for Delmer Mark Swatman, 73, will be from 2-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mountain View and Joseph St., Moscow. Burial will follow at Freeze Cemetery near Potlatch, Idaho.
Mr. Swatman, who was born near Potlatch, died Sunday.
He grew up in Spokane and Potlatch and worked in the Shipyards in Portland during World War II.
Mr. Swatman settled in Moscow and worked as a farmer, logger and miner and also for the Potlatch Forest Industries mills near Potlatch.
He had lived and worked in Orofino, Idaho, Wallace and Montana before returning to Moscow.
Mr. Swatman was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Moscow Third Ward.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; three daughters, Edna Crawford, Anice Peters and Sherri Smith, all of Spokane; two sons, Mark Swatman of Tacoma and Patrick Swatman of Newport, Wash.; two stepchildren, Samuel Knapper and Mary Hughes, both of Wenatchee; two brothers, Norman Piper of Tri-Cities and Mel Swatman of Fernwood, Idaho; two sisters, Maxine Caswell and Marie Shepherd, both of St. Maries; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Robert Smith Troy, Idaho
Memorial service for Robert Dean Smith, 66, will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Troy Lutheran Church. Private graveside service will be held at Burnt Ridge Cemetery near Troy. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, who was born in Troy, died Saturday.
He grew up in Troy and graduated from Troy High School in 1950. He served with the Navy for four years aboard the USS Sanborn in the South Pacific during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Smith returned to Troy in 1954 and worked as a mechanic in Moscow before returning to farming on family land on Burnt Ridge in 1963. He later farmed on American Ridge near Troy.
He was a member of the Troy Lutheran Church and the Lions Club.
Mr. Smith spent winters in Arizona.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lila; two sons, Pat Smith of Troy and Mike Smith of Spokane; a daughter, Lori Smith of Seattle; his father, Slim Smith of Troy; a sister, Jeannie Colvin of Pasco; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Troy Lutheran Church Building Fund of the Troy Ambulance Fund.
Claudia Abraham Ralph Abraham
Moyie Springs, Idaho Service for Claudia Irene Abraham, 62, and Ralph Abraham, 69, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Bonners Ferry (Idaho) Funeral Home. Mrs. Abraham, who was born in Medford, Ore., died Sunday.
Mr. Abraham, who was born in Iserlohn, West Germany, died Sunday, following the death of his wife.
Mrs. Abraham grew up and graduated from high school in Oregon and then moved to California in the 1950s, where she worked as secretary and bookkeeper.
Mrs. Abraham later opened a computer supply and consulting business in the 1970s and operated it until retiring and moving to Moyie Springs in 1990.
Mr. Abraham grew up in Germany and attended the German Air Force Technical Prep School in Dessau/ Anhalt, receiving a bachelor of science degree in business, business law and economics.
He then began a career in city government and held the position of city inspector, audit division, for the city of Witten in Germany.
Mr. Abraham later went into sales and marketing and owned his own business for three years.
He moved to Alberta, Canada, in 1956 and worked for the Sweeney Cooperage Limited lumber mill before immigrating to the United States in 1958.
He settled in California and received his United States Citizenship in 1963. He worked for Double D Foods Inc. for 22 years, serving in various positions with the company.
Mr. Abraham became a general manager at Western Commerce Corp. in California in 1986 and retired in 1990.
He moved to Moyie Springs after his retirement.
He was a member of the Packaging Institute U.S.A., Old Guard Society and the Purchasing Management Association.
Mr. Abraham had also served as chairman of the Industry Manufacturers Purchasing Sales Council steering committee.
Mrs. Abraham is survived by a daughter, Teresa Brown of Bonners Ferry; son, Tony Brown of California; a sister, Priscilla Gibson of Brush Prairie, Wash.; and one granddaughter.
Mr. Abraham is survived by a brother, Anton Abraham, and sister, Ursella Abraham, both of Germany; a stepdaughter, Teresa Brown; a stepson, Tony Brown; and one stepgranddaughter.

Gerald Best Blanchard, Idaho
Graveside service for Gerald Kenneth Best, 56, will be at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery at a later date. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Best, who was born in Wilbur, Wash., died April 9.
He grew up in Rosalia, Wash., and the surrounding Palouse area.
He served with the Air Force from 1959 to 1963.
Mr. Best worked as a manager for many restaurants. In 1981 he moved to Blanchard from St. Maries.
Survivors include a son, Darin Best, and daughter, Jeralynn Estrada, both of Friday Harbor; and three grandchildren.
Lydia Mattis Coeur d’Alene
Service for Lydia Wagner Mattis, 93, will be today at 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery, Riverview Section, in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Mattis, who was born in South Dakota, died Sunday. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1956 and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Mattis was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Senior Citizens and the First Baptist Church in Coeur d’Alene.
Her husband, Henry, died in 1978.
Survivors incldue two sons, Gene Mattis of Oregon and Bill Mattis of Culdesac, Idaho; two daughters, Elsie Clairmont of North Dakota and Lorraine Fulker of South Dakota; four brothers, Harold Wagner of Boise, Herbert Wagner of Missoula, Rudolph Wagner of South Dakota and Reuben Bigalk of Nebraska; a sister, Elsie of Wyoming; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Shirley Edwards Smelterville, Idaho
Memorial service for Shirley A. Edwards, 68, will be today at 10 a.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Edwards, who was born in Minnesota, died Sunday.
She moved to the Silver Valley from Butte, Mont., in 1963 and worked at the Silver Valley Lab in Smelterville before retiring in 1996.
Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her husband, Stanley, died in 1980.
Survivors include three children, Stan Edwards and Shirley McClain, both of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Bette Jo Case of Wallace; two brothers, Frank James of Pinehurst and Jerry James of Montana; two sisters, Opal Taylor of Smelterville and Betty Garner of Arizona; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Angelo Zanetti Silverton, Idaho
Graveside service for Angelo Zanetti, 83, will be today at 1 p.m. at Nine Mile Cemetery in Wallace. Shoshone Funeral Service in Wallace is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Zanetti, who was born in Wallace, died Monday.
He was a lifelong Silver Valley resident and had worked as a supervisor for Zanetti Construction for 43 years. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Zanetti was a longtime member of the Wallace Eagles Lodge, the Elks Lodge, the Osburn Veterans of Foreign Wars and the United Methodist Church of Wallace.
He wife, Florence, died in 1986.
Survivors include a son, Pete Zanetti of Wallace; two brothers, Bill Zanetti of Silverton and Herb Zanetti of Wallace; two sisters, Mabel Rogers and Vera Levesque, both of Silverton; and two grandsons.

Joseph Bombino Priest River, Idaho
Memorial service for Joseph “Joe” Frank Bombino, 86, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River. Graveside inurnment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bombino, a lifetime resident of Priest River, died Sunday.
In 1944 he married Bonita Hartman in Sandpoint.
He served with the Army during World War II and worked in the timber industry, mostly as a truck driver.
His wife died in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Bombino of Priest River and Donald Bombino of Spokane; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
