Cinnamon, Raisin Combo Leaves Panel Perplexed

Rick Bonino Food Editor

Cinnamon and raisins might seem an innocent enough flavor combination. Still, there’s something about Dole’s new CinnaRaisins that didn’t sit well with most members of The Spokesman-Review’s reader food panel.

Dole bills the cinnamon-and-sugar-coated raisins as “great for snacking and baking.” But when we served them plain to the panel, some of them acted like we had put ketchup in their coffee.

Maybe if we would have baked the raisins in something, our panelists would have cooled off a little.

“Sweet, plump, soft and a cinnamon flavor - what else can you say? Raisins and cinnamon will never replace chocolate and peanut butter.” - Sandy Davidson
