Robert Binnall Hope, Idaho
Memorial service for Robert J. “Bob” Binnall, 73, will be today at 2 p.m. at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel in Sandpoint.
Mr. Binnall, who was born in Iowa, died Thursday.
He served with the Navy during World War II as an aviation cadet at Navy Pilots Flight School in Athens, Ga., and then earned an engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines.
Mr. Binnall worked for Holmes and Narver Contracting Co. out of Los Angeles and was involved in Atomic Energy Commission test facilities on remote Pacific atolls.
He later worked for the Flour Corp. in California and then served as project manager for the million-barrel storage tanks built at the end of the TransAlaska Oil Pipeline in Valdez, Alaska.
Mr. Binnall retired and moved to Hope in 1986.
Survivors include four children, Craig Binnall of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and John and Michelle Binnall, and Maudie Swanstrom, all of California; three sisters, Shirlene Humphrey of Oregon, and Mary Conner and Jan Jackson, both of California; and five grandchildren.

Wuanita Gilbert Harrison, Idaho
Service for Wuanita P. Gilbert, 86, will be today at 1 p.m. at the Harrison Community Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Harrison City Cemetery. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gilbert, who was born in Mountain Park, Okla., died Saturday.
She grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Kellogg in the 1950s and worked as a certified nurses aide at the Kellogg Hospital.
Mrs. Gilbert moved to Harrison in 1974 and had baked pies for Rose’s Cafe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Gilbert, in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Jack Jones of Alabama; three daughters, Bette Clancy of California, and Deanie Curry and Wilma Wamboldt, both of Harrison; a brother, Billy Pritchard, and a sister, Viola Crump, both of Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Roy ‘Eddie’ Johnson Deer Park
Funeral for Roy “Eddie” Johnson, 51, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mr. Johnson, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.
He worked as a machinist for Columbia Lighting for 32 years and was the production foreman there at the time of his death.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include a son, Jay Johnson of Bellingham; a daughter, Sarah Johnson of Deer Park; a stepdaughter, Lyndsay Anderson of Spokane; his mother, Carol Dirks of Spokane; three brothers, Danny and Guy Johnson, both of Spokane and Ernie Johnson of Sandpoint; three sisters, Lynn Worthington and Wendy Perkins, both of Spokane, and Barbara Palmer of Sandpoint; and two stepgrandchildren.
Eleanor ‘Ruth’ McMasters Hermiston, Ore.
Burial Mass for Eleanor “Ruth” McMasters, 76, will be at 11 a.m. today at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston, Wash. Burial will follow at Freeze Cemetery in Potlatch, Idaho. Burns Mortuary in Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McMasters, who was born in Moscow, Idaho, died Sunday.
She was raised in Potlatch, and in 1938 married Russell McMasters. They lived in Garfield, Wash., for 37 years before moving to Clarkston.
Mrs. McMasters worked as a sales representative for the Fuller Brush Co. for 30 years.
She later moved to Kamiah, Idaho, and lived in Hermiston for the past four years.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Lester McMasters of Hermiston, Ronnie McMasters of Brush Prairie, Wash.; a daughter, Roberta Kuster of Fairfield; three brothers, Charles Boller of Coeur d’Alene, Kenneth Boller of Lewiston and Orville Boller of Fernwood, Idaho; two sisters, Rose Skilers of Kamiah and Camille Harp of Malden, Wash.; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Richard Fuller Careywood, Idaho
Visitation for Richard D. Fuller, 66, will be today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Fuller, who was born in Everett, died Sunday.
He had lived in Spokane from 1952 to 1954 and then in Everett, and the Curlew/Danville, Wash., area, where he worked as a foreman for the Lone Star Ranch.
Mr. Fuller then moved to the TriCities and worked as an electrician. He owned Bi Co. for 14 years before moving to Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked as an electrician for Hayden Electric.
He moved to Careywood about 4-1/2 years ago.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Bonnie; three sons, Richard Fuller Jr., of Everett, Rodney Fuller of Careywood and Mark Fuller of Anchorage; a daughter, Luana Church of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; his father, Theodore Fuller; two brothers, Ted Fuller of Lake Chelan, Wash., and John Fuller of Danville; a sister, Lola O’Bryan of Arizona; and four grandsons.

William Weiand Spokane
Memorial service for William “Bill” Weiand, 85, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Weiand, who died Friday, was born on a farm near Beulah, N.D.
He worked on a farm in North Dakota and later entered the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Mr. Weiand moved to Keuterville, Idaho, where he worked at St. Gertrude Convent as a hired hand and as head foreman for three years.
He served in the Army during World War II, first in Kodiak, Alaska, and with heavy artillery units in the European Theater.
After the war, he worked for Hecla Mining Co. as a hoist operator for 33 years.
Mr. Weiand later moved to Spokane where he was a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital for 13 years. In 1988 he was honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen; a son, Ron Weiand of Spokane; a brother, Adam Weiand; two sisters, Helen Bates and Sister Sylveria Weiand; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Nellie (Scheffler) Bailor Spokane
Funeral for Nellie Fay (Scheffler) Bailor, 86, is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bailor, who was born in Kalkaska, Mich., died Sunday.
She graduated from Noxon (Mont.) High School and married Orville Bailor in Trout Creek, Mont. They moved to Spokane in 1940.
Mrs. Bailor worked for Lundeen Laundry and The Davenport Hotel for several years.
She was active with the Parent Teacher Association and was a Cub Scout den mother.
Her husband died in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Bailor of Spokane and Ronald Bailor of Mead; three sisters, Ruthie Ryan of Spokane, June Hudlow of Moyie Springs, Idaho, and Helen Dahl of Troy, Mont; three brothers, Edward Scheffler of Bull Lake, Mont., Ted Scheffler of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Ralph Scheffler of Lolo, Mont.; and five grandchildren.

Joseph Sisson Round Mountain, Nev.
Service for Joseph Michael “Joe” Sisson, 40, will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Odd Fellow Cemetery in Mullan, Idaho. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sisson, who was born in Wallace, died Dec. 23 in an automobile accident near Likely, Calif.
He graduated from Wallace High School in 1977 and worked for Echo Bay Mining Co., in Republic, Wash.
Mr. Sisson recently transferred to Round Mountain to continue working for Echo Bay Mining.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Sarah; two children, Joseph Sisson and Sarah VanSlyke, both of Republic; two brothers, Frank Sisson of Colorado and Pat Sisson of Mullan; three sisters, Vicky Peterson of Alaska, Maria Philp of Wallace, and Beth Murphy of Mullan.
Kathryn Mitchell Sandpoint
Private family service for Kathryn Mitchell, 86, was held. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint was in charge of arrangements.
Born in Sandpoint, Mrs. Mitchell died Thursday.
She graduated from Sandpoint High School and worked as a clerk for BiRite Drug Stores and as a medical records clerk for Bonner General Hospital. She retired in the early 1970s.
Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Sandpoint First Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Beryl Mitchell, died in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Huber of Oregon; and two granddaughters, Julie Huber and Jolyn Rothgery.
Monica Cowan Kirkland, Wash.
Memorial service for Monica Lyn Cowan, 20, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the New Life Community Church in Rathdrum, Idaho, with a reception to follow. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Cowan, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She lived in Spokane until moving to Rathdrum in 1982. She graduated from Lakeland High School in 1996.
Miss Cowan attended the University of Idaho and North Idaho College. She worked at the Coeur d’Alene Resort and taught night dance classes until moving to the Kirkland area.
She had worked as a sales representative for Minolta in Tukwila, Wash., and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Miss Cowan also had taught a DARE Program in Rathdrum.
Survivors include her father and mother, Ron Cowan of Kelso Lake, Wash., and Mary Cowan of Rathdrum; a brother, Wyatt Cowan of Rathdrum; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bryan Hobbs Spokane
Memorial Mass for Bryan J. Hobbs, 87, is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Otis Orchards. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Trentwood. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hobbs, who was born in Walla Walla, died Sunday.
He was raised in Bovill, Idaho, and in 1937 married Mary Anna Lenoch.
They lived in St. Maries, Idaho, before moving to Spokane in 1942, where he worked as carpenter.
Mr. Hobbs was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Carpenter’s Union 98 and the Liberty Lake Over the Hill Gang.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Bryan Hobbs, Jr., of Spokane; two daughters, Gwen Skierka and Carolyn Matthews, both of Spokane; three brothers, four sisters, 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Thelma Westby Deer Park
Memorial service for Thelma C. Westby, 90, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park.
Mrs. Westby, who was born in Spirit Lake, Idaho, died Friday.
She graduated from Deer Park High School and Kinman Business College.
In 1939 she married Harald Westby and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Ken Westby of Vancouver, Wash.; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Norman Harelson Cheney
Funeral for Norman Harelson, 88, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Church of the Nazarene in Cheney. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home in Cheney is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harelson, who was born in Farber, Mo., died Sunday.
He graduated from high school in Farber and married Elizabeth Shaw in 1930.
They moved to Southern California where he worked as a foreman for Consolidated Rock in Los Angeles for several years.
He later began working as a building and road inspector for Butte County in California before moving to Cheney in 1980.
Mr. Harelson was a member of the Paradise (Calif.) Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and was a member and past president of the Paradise Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Cheney.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David Harelson of Four Lakes; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Duane Manbeck Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for V. Duane Manbeck, 77, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. Manbeck, who was born in Little Falls, Minn., died Monday.
He grew up in Little Falls and then attended Hamlin College before graduating from the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Manbeck served with the Navy during World War II and then moved to Colorado and worked as a postal carrier and for the Census Bureau. He moved to Maryland in 1968. In 1972 he retired and moved to Coeur d’Alene and operated a private tax service.
He was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Church of the Nazarene, served on the board of directors for the Public Employees Credit Union and was past treasurer of Trinity Homes.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Isabelle; two sons, Paul Manbeck of Maryland and Hans Manbeck of Coeur d’Alene; a daughter, Sylvia Manbeck of Spokane; three brothers, Maurce and Dean Manbeck, both of Illinois, and Keith Manbeck of Minnesota; a sister, Dorothy Backman of Minnesota; and four grandchildren.
Joyce Macko-Claypool Spokane
Memorial service for Joyce E. Macko-Claypool, 35, will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at Fourth Memorial Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Macko-Claypool, who was born in Spokane, died Dec. 23 after a long battle with AIDS.
She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1981 and attended Spokane Falls Community College for one year.
In 1983 she married Douglas Claypool and enlisted in the Marine Corps.
Mrs. Macko-Claypool served as an air traffic controller from 1983 to 1987.
She was a member of Fourth Memorial Church, Valley Fourth Memorial Church and the Community Bible Chapel. Mrs. Macko-Claypool was also a member of the Inland Empire Council of Girl Scouts.
Her husband died in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Kara.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher and Douglas Claypool II, both at home; her parents, Joyce and Joseph Macko of Spokane; five brothers, Michael and Stephen Macko, both of Spokane, James Macko of Portland, Wayne McMillan of Goldendale, Wash., and Timothy Macko of Phoenix; four sisters, Doris Purdey of Napa, Calif.; Barbara Caeser of Hope, N.J., Sandra McCorkle of Woodinville, Wash., and Debbie Marshall of Burien, Wash.

Robert Bankhead Spokane
Graveside service for Robert Allen Bankhead, 25, will be at 10 a.m. today at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Windsor Baptist Church in Spokane. Cheney Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bankhead, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.
He graduated from Cheney High School in 1992 and was currently attending the AGC School in Spokane to become a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his fiancee, Michelle Clark; two sons, Joey Bankhead and Jacob Mellick; his mother, Nelda Bankhead; and two sisters, Julie Walter and Susan Driscoll.
Raymond Bolin, Sr. Spokane
Memorial service for Raymond J. Bolin, Sr., 77, will be at 1 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bolin, who was born in Havre, Mont., died Sunday.
He graduated from high school in Havre and served in the Signal Corps during World War II.
Mr. Bolin lived in Pasco until moving to Spokane in 1954, where he co-owned and operated businesses, including a local chain of 24 Economy Service Stations, the Starlight Motel and Mobile Home Park, Baghdad Motel, Baghdad Bowl, Aslin-Finch Feed Co., Economy Trailer Sales and the Economy Oil Co. He retired in 1982.
He was active with a local senior center where he taught handwriting analysis classes, and was a member of the bridge club. Mr. Bolin was also a member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Raymond Bolin of Spokane; two daughters, Cathy Houchin of Kent, Wash., and Allyson Bolin of Newport Beach, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
