Scc’s Scott Kramer Receives Status Award

Scott Kramer, an instructor at Spokane Community College since 1987, was one of three people in the state to receive the Exemplary Status Award from the Washington Community and Technical College Humanities Association.

Many students enroll in Kramer’s philosophy classes because of his talent and passion for teaching, said Shirley Hauck, SCC dean of instruction for liberal arts.

Ty MacLean Redinger, Chattaroy, has received his Eagle Scout Award. MacLean Redinger’s Eagle project was to design and construct a fire ring and benches for use by various youth organizations at Country Church of the Open Bible in Elk. He is a member of Troop 247, with Jon E. Redinger as Scoutmaster.

Army Spec. Scott Jagger has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service. Jagger, a signal support systems specialist stationed in Oahu, Hawaii, is the son of Kenneth and Donna Jagger of Spokane.

Aubrey Bruneau and Allison Cohen were co-editors of the 1997 Shadle Park High School Yearbook which was rated First Class by the National Scholastic Press Association. The yearbook also received the Mark of Distinction for its theme concept developed throughout the book.

Jaki Lake was adviser.

Lindsey Haile, a graduate of West Valley High School, and Nicole Malloy, a University High School graduate, were elected as members of Delta Delta Delta sorority at Washington State University.

Adam Olp, a senior at Cheney High School, received a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program. He is the son of Sharon Olp of Cheney and John Olp of Spokane.

Jon Voight and Ben Voight, Gonzaga University students, placed first and second, respectively, in September’s Western Washington (University) Warmup debate tournament in Bellingham.

GU’s debate team won the tournament, had four of the top 10 teams, and won six of the top 10 individual honors.

The team of Aaron Moburg-Jones and Jon Voight won the Warmup. The team of Shawn Hummel and Josh Yake finished fourth; Ben Voight and Jason Leviton took sixth; and Casey Kelly and Sarah Peterson, ninth.

Other individual winners were Hummel, fourth; Brad Headridge, sixth; Kelly tied for seventh; and Yake, ninth.

Gretchen Laete, a senior at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee, was chosen as a campus ambassador. She is the daughter of Jake and Janelle Laete of Spokane.
