Free Tips Offered To Nordic Skiers

From Staff And Wire Reports

Cross country skiers not ready for the Langlauf race at Mount Spokane might consider working on their skiing skills Jan. 31 at Priest Lake.

Priest Lake State Park is sponsoring free ski lessons and skiing. The day begins at 9 a.m. at The Inn at Priest Lake in Coolin where local experts and park rangers will give classroom demonstrations on everything a beginner needs to know about equipment, waxing, survival tips and skiing techniques.

In the afternoon, participants can ski on the park’s groomed trails, 11 miles north of Coolin. Instructors will be on hand for first-time skiers from 1 to 3 p.m.

The park does not have rental equipment available, so participants must arrange to rent or borrow equipment elsewhere. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

To register for the class, call (208) 443-2121 by Jan. 30. The class is limited to 30 people. , DataTimes
