Joseph Hall Cannon Air Force Base, N.M.
Funeral for Joseph Franklin Hall, 19 and a native of Colfax, Wash., will be at 3 p.m. today at the Colfax First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Steptoe, Wash., with full military honors. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangement.
Mr. Hall died Saturday of injuries suffered in a car accident near Denver.
Born in Colfax, he moved to Garfield, Wash., in 1996. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1997.
Mr. Hall was involved in Boy Scouts, participated in leadership training and was a patrol leader, troop guide and received the life award.
In high school, he played football, basketball and track. As a sophomore he was selected for the all-conference academic football team. and in his senior year, he was selected all-league running back and named on the allstate second team.
Also as a senior, he qualified in track for district in four events and went on to win the state discus. He also qualified for three events in the Junior Olympics one year.
He held the co-lead in the high school musical his junior year and held the lead his senior year.
Mr. Hall enlisted in the Air Force and went into basic training in August 1997. He attended technical school at Shepherd Air Force Base, Texas, and later was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., where he loaded F16 aircraft.
Survivors include his father, John Hall of Garfield; his mother, Velda Latner of Pahrump, Nev.; a halfbrother, Clayton Smith of Seattle; and his grandmother, Johnsy Hall of Colfax.

Mollie German Ritzville, Wash.
Visitation for Mollie German, 91, will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Philadelphia Congregational Church in Ritzville. Vault burial will follow at the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. German, who was a 71-year resident of Ritzville, died Sunday.
She was born in Walter, Russia, and moved to the United States with her parents in 1912. They settled in Ritzville, and in 1917 moved to a farm near Odessa, Wash.
In 1927 she married Joel German and they lived on the farm, which they later purchased. They retired in 1957 and moved to Ritzville. Mr. German died in 1969.
Mrs. German was a member of Philadelphia Congregational Church and Grace Chapter, Rebekah Lodge, Ritzville Gritman Senior Center and the Royal Neighbors American Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Tom German of Ritzville; three sisters, Marie Scrupps of Odessa, Lydia Gettman of Bellevue and Allie Benzel of Ritzville; a brother, Adam Ils of Everett; two granddaughters, two stepgrandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Lucille Hooker Spokane
Visitation for Lucille Hooker, 68, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Hooker, who was born in LeRoy, N.D., died Monday.
She moved to Port Angeles, Wash., and lived in the Olympic Peninsula area until 1982, when she moved to Spokane.
Mrs. Hooker was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Joe; a son, David Hooker, and a daughter, Carol Carter, both of Spokane; a brother, Jack Cavalier of Spokane; three sisters, Della Johnson of Spokane, Lisa Hiser of Minneapolis and MaryAnn Cella of Cle Elum, Wash.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Helen James Spokane
Memorial service for Helen C. James, 76, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. James, who was a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Friday.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the Nile and Elks Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Brady of Cheshire, Conn.; two sons, Robert James of Bothell, Wash., and William James of Seattle; a sister, Elizabeth Lindsay of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, James Lindsay of Spokane; and seven grandchildren.
Robert ‘Junior’ Holland Spokane
Graveside service for Robert Francis “Junior” Holland, 74, will be at 11 a.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Holland, who was born in Moscow, Idaho, died Sunday.
He was raised in Bovill, Idaho, and in 1945 married Nancy Britt there.
Mr. Holland worked as a brakeman on the Milwaukee Railroad on the Coast and Idaho Division.
He later became a mechanical engineer and senior draftsman for Kaiser Mead for 36 years.
Mr. Holland was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nancy; two sons, Joe Holland of Silver Lake, Wash., and Robert Holland of Bedford, Maine; three daughters, Britta McKnight of Spokane, Terri Murbach of Loon Lake, Wash., and Marsha Hanson of Post Falls; two brothers, Jack Holland of Spokane and Maurice Holland of Clarkston, Wash.; a sister, Sr. Mary Michelle Holland of Spokane; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Leora Jensen Heron, Mont.
Service for Leora Mae Jensen, 73, will be today at 11 a.m. (MST) at the Heron United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Heron Cemetery. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jensen, who was born in Montana, died Saturday.
She moved to Heron in 1936 and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur; two daughters, Colene Marich of Thompson Falls, Mont., and Marlene McCoy of Spokane; a son, Bill Jensen of Heron; her mother, Edith Behmerwold of Spokane; two sisters, Stella Sellmer of Heron and Ruth Welsch of Spokane; two brothers, Chester Tempero of Spokane and Manford Tempero of Hot Springs, Mont.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rosa (Wilken) Campbell Spokane
Memorial service for Rosa M. (Wilken) Campbell, 95, will be at 3 p.m. today at Westview Congregational Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Campbell, who was born in Govan, Wash., died Friday.
She married John Campbell in 1924, and they lived in Spokane for 36 years before moving to Poway, Calif.
Her husband died in 1992, and she moved back to Spokane in 1994.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 163 and was a past guardian of Jobs Daughters Bethel No. 44.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Tucker of Spokane; a son, Terry Campbell of Poway, Calif.; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Walter Weber Spokane
Visitation for Walter Weber, 90, will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Pines Cemetery.
Mr. Weber, who was a 40-year resident of Spokane, died Monday.
He was born in Spangle, Wash., and had worked for the railroad for about 20 years.
Mr. Weber was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
His wife, Fannie Weber, died in 1992.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Lavelle Thaler and Lucille Grant, both of Spokane, and Deloras Mares of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; and a sister, Betty Weber of Detroit Lakes, Minn.

Myrtle Quinn Spokane
Funeral for Myrtle Mable Quinn, 86, will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Quinn, who was a 57-year resident of Spokane, died Saturday.
She was born in Roth, N.D., and in 1941 married Joseph Quinn in Virginia City, Nev.
Mrs. Quinn had been cast in eight movies, under the name of Joyce Green, between 1935 and 1940. In Spokane, she worked for Long Lake Lumber on the green chain. She later co-owned and operated various restaurants before going to work for Newberry’s as the head floor lady and retiring in 1975.
She was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, American Business Women’s Association, Democratic Central Committee, Newberry Life Group, Moose Auxiliary and the Moran Prairie Grange.
Her husband of 32 years preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Jerome McKenzie of Norwalk, Calif.; a daughter, Catherine Trautman of Nine Mile Falls; a sister, Margaret Sather of Bottineau, N.D.; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Lois (Knack) Zeimantz Mondovi, Wash.
Funeral for Lois E. (Knack) Zeimantz, 70, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash. Burial will follow at the Mondovi Cemetery.
Mrs. Zeimantz, who was born in Rocklyn, Wash., died Thursday.
In 1946 she married Ted Zeimantz, and in 1951 they moved to the Mondovi area, where they farmed. They spent their winters in Yuma, Ariz.
She worked as a stenographer and bookkeeper for the Lincoln County Road Department and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Zeimantz was a member of the Davenport-Edwall United Methodist Church, Mary Circle and United Methodist Women’s Society.
Survivors include her husband; a son, John Zeimantz of Spokane; two daughters, Janet McGuire of Veradale and Marla Terry of Cheney; two sisters, Irene Young of Spokane and Wilma Fouke of San Francisco; a brother, Wallace Knack of Phoenix; and nine grandchildren.

Jean Brouwers Veradale

Mrs. Brouwers, who was born in Redfield, S.D., died Sunday.
She moved to Spokane from Boise 15 years ago.
Mrs. Brouwers worked as a lead cook with the Central Valley School District for several years.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Rick; two sons, Richard Brouwers of Spokane and Rodney Brouwers of Colville, Wash.; her father, L.J. Wiles of Aberdeen, S.D.; a sister, Ginger Walberg of Mina, S.D.; and two grandchildren.
James ‘Dan’ Curtis Spokane
Memorial service for James “Dan” Curtis, 44, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosalia, Wash. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Curtis, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.
He was raised in Rosalia and worked as the manager at Rosalia Producers.
Mr. Curtis moved back to Spokane eight years ago.
Survivors include a daughter, Danielle Curtis, and a son, Chad Curtis, both of Spokane; his father, Floyd Curtis, and his stepmother, Elaine Stevens, both of Spokane; a sister, Susie Strohmaier of Lind, Wash.; a brother, Doug Curtis of Colfax, Wash., and his twin brother, Dave Curtis of Clarkston, Wash.

Brandon Burrows Spokane

Brandon, who was born May 10, 1996 in Spokane, died Saturday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Jane Burrows of Spokane; two brothers, Kyle Otradovec and Stephen Burrows, and a sister, Sarah Burrows, all at home; and grandparents, John and Donna Burrows of Airway Heights, and Ed and Vickie Reisenauer of Spokane.

Lyle Garbel Spokane

Mr. Garbel, who was a 45-year resident of Spokane, died Saturday.
He was born in Wildrose, N.D., and had retired after 37 years of employment with the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Garbel of Spokane; two daughters, Jeanelle Garbel of Spokane and Marlea Kammerzell of Liberty Lake; a brother, Wally Garbel of Crosby, N.D.; two sisters, Violet Baumgartner of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Delores Mothershed of Manteca, Calif.; and two granddaughters.
Eleanore Long Spokane

Mrs. Long, who was a 30-year resident of Spokane, died Sunday.
She was born in Chicago and worked as a bookkeeper for many years.
Mrs. Long was a founding member of Berean Bible Church.
Her husband, Wilbert Long, died in 1973.
She is survived by a brother, Richard Proehl of Redding, Calif.

Edward Iff Spokane
Memorial service for Edward I. Iff, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Iff, who was born in Tuscor, Mont., died Wednesday.
He served with the Army during World War II and moved to Spokane in 1949.
In 1952 he received his certificate in welding from the Spokane Trade School. He worked for AndersonMiller Sprinkler Irrigation for 18 years before retiring in 1970.
Mr. Iff was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Sophie; and a sister, Clara Wright of Seattle.
Dorothy Gray Spokane
No service will be held for Dorothy Grace Gray, 82. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gray, who was born in Deer Park, died Thursday.
She was a longtime resident of Spokane and had been involved in sewing machine sales from her home. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Bill, died in 1976.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Stanley of Anchorage, Alaska, and Grace Marquiss of King Salmon, Alaska; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Robert Towne Spokane
Memorial service for Robert J. Towne, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Towne, who was born in Two Harbors, Mich., died Sunday.
He graduated from Wallace High School in 1930 and from the University of Idaho in 1938 with a degree in business administration.
Mr. Towne was employed by the Lexington Mining Co. in Neihart, Mont., from 1939 to 1943, and served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant from 1943 to 1946.
In 1946 he established and operated Towne Equipment Co. in Spokane, and was its president and general manager until he retired in 1980.
Mr. Towne was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral and St. David’s Episcopal Church, where he was awarded the Rector’s Cross and served as chairman of the building committee for the present church.
He served as trustee and secretary from 1950 to 1970 of the Northwest Mining Association and was an honorary life member. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and the University of Idaho Alumni Association, where he was a past national board member.
Mr. Towne received the Governor’s Distinguished Service Award for service to Expo ‘74. He was president of the Downtown Rotary Club and was made an honorary member in 1997.
He was active in the Republican Party, serving as county chairman and delegate to the national Republican Convention.
His first wife, Frances, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Helen; a daughter, Marilyn Towne Sandifer of Priest Lake, Idaho; a son, Roger Towne of Fairfield, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Barbara Brucker of Seattle and Beverly Masteller of Davenport, Wash.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Harold ‘Jack’ Halstead Spokane
Memorial service for Harold A. “Jack” Halstead, 73, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Riplinger Funeral Home.
Mr. Halstead, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Monday.
He graduated from North Central High School and Eastern State College.
He served with the Army during World War II and later was co-owner of Novelty Carriage in Spokane for 25 years.
Mr. Halstead was a member of North Hill Masonic Lodge 210, Scottish Rite Bodies, El Katif Shrine, Directors Staff, Royal Order of Jesters CT. No. 65 and North Spokane Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; a daughter, Cindy Wittig, and two sons, Chuck and Barney Halstead, all of Spokane; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
