Bruce Jones Spokane
Graveside service for Bruce W. Jones, 50, is planned for 10:30 a.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home North is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jones died Thursday.
He was born in Havre, Mont., and moved to Spokane in 1958.
Mr. Jones graduated in 1966 from Shadle Park High School and served in the Army from 1966 to 1969, during the Vietnam War.
He received a degree in electronics in 1972 from Spokane Community College and worked for 28 years for Columbia Lighting Co. as a construction cost estimator.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Toni; two sons, Shawn and Jason Jones, both of Spokane; a daughter, Michelle Jones of Spokane; his parents, Alva and Marion Jones of Salem, Ore.; a brother, Gary Jones of Salem, Ore.; and a grandson.
John Miller Spokane
Funeral for John L. Miller, 71, is set for 10 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Miller, a 50-year Spokane resident, died Thursday.
He was born in Park City, Mo., and served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Miller worked for Great Northern Railroad, and later for Burlington Northern, for 35 years.
He was a member of Hillyard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474, Eagles Lodge No. 2, Disabled American Veterans, United Transportation Union and Moose Lodge.
Survivors include three brothers, William, Robert and Charles Miller, all of Spokane; and three sisters, Irene and Katherine Miller, both of Spokane, and Grace Suko of Hardin, Mont.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or to Hillyard VFW Post 1474.
John Olson Rosalia, Wash.
Memorial service for John Olson, 84, will be at 2 p.m. today at United Methodist Church in Rosalia. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Rosalia is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Olson, who was born on the family farm near Rosalia, died May 31.
He graduated from Rosalia High School and began a career in farming.
Mr. Olson was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge of Rosalia, Knights of Pythias and Steptoe Grange.
Survivors include a sister, Leona Goyke of Rosalia; and a brother, Roy Olson of Coeur d’Alene.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosalia Ambulance Fund.
Lorne Nadeau Spokane
Memorial service for Lorne P. Nadeau, 73, will be at 3 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Nadeau, a 28-year Spokane resident, died Saturday.
He was born in Dal Housie, New Brunswick, and worked for Kaiser Aluminum as a welder.
Mr. Nadeau was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the Loon Lake Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge No. 2 and the Old Timers Hockey Club.
His wife, Betty, died in 1995.
Survivors include six sons, Paul Nadeau of Rochester, Wash., Larry and Pat Nadeau, both of Livermore, Calif., Brett Nadeau of Alcott Beach, N.Y., Brian Nadeau of Hayward, Calif., and Chris Nadeau of Buffalo, N.Y.; two daughters, Loreen Dalton of Olympia and Mary Nadeau of San Ramon, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

Warren Nelson Spokane
No service will be held for Warren E. Nelson. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nelson, 82, died Wednesday.
He was born in Burley, Idaho, and in 1940 married Lois Pool.
They moved to Spokane in 1952, and he owned Nelson’s Sporting Goods and Nelson’s Hardware in Chewelah, Wash., for several years.
Mr. Nelson then worked for the Montgomery Ward for 30 years until his retirement in 1977 as a department manager.
His wife died in 1995.
He is survived by a son, Wayne Nelson of Greenacres; a brother, Taylor Nelson of Missoula; and a sister, Nona Henry of Vancouver, Wash.
Robert Sutter Spokane
Graveside service for Robert H. Sutter is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Memorial Park. Memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at Pines Baptist Church. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sutter, who was born in Salem, Neb., died Sunday. He was 62.
He worked as an equipment operator in construction.
Mr. Sutter, a 31-year resident of Spokane, was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 370.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Arlene; two sons, William Sutter of Spokane and Robert Sutter of Ephrata, Wash.; a daughter, Julie Anderson of Spokane; a brother, Harold Sutter of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Cindy O’Grady of Oklahoma and Clydene Gilsdorf of Sun City, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
Rita Copeland Bonners Ferry, Idaho
Vigil service for Rita Copeland, 79, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. Burial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.
Mrs. Copeland, who was born in North Dakota, died Monday.
She attended schools in North Dakota before moving to Bonners Ferry, where she attended high school.
Mrs. Copeland was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and received one of Idaho’s first LifeSaver Awards for her work in public education.
She was also a March of Dimes volunteer for more than 30 years and served as president of the Idaho Council of Catholic Women, Northern Deanery.
Mrs. Copeland was a member of St. Ann’s Church, where she taught catechism and directed the junior choir, sang in the choir and directed the funeral dinners.
She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Pythian Sisters and Paradise Valley Grange, where she served as master and was a seventh-degree national member.
Mrs. Copeland had worked for The Spokane Chronicle for several years and then worked at the J.C. Penney department store in Bonners Ferry from 1960 to 1973.
She also was a hairdresser at the Bonners Ferry Restorium.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, John Foust in 1967 and George Koppang in 1987.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; two daughters, Bev Shaw of Libby, Mont., and Dorothy Harrell of Spokane; a son, Jack Foust of Cashmere, Wash.; 10 stepchildren, Steve Koppang and Larry and Roy Copeland, all of Bonners Ferry, Greg Koppang of Spokane, Diane Koppang Ward of Boise, Patty Reggear of Orofino, Idaho, Yvonne Thomas of California, Jim Copeland of Oregon, Sandi Truelove of Payette, Idaho, and Patty Rutherford of Sandpoint; three sisters, Evelyn Holmes of Coeur d’Alene, Jeanette Schuon of Spokane and Bea Evans of Oregon; four brothers, Don Litalien of Arizona, Adrian Litalien of Bonners Ferry, Ray Litalien of Spokane and Jerry Litalien of Coeur d’Alene; 12 grandchildren, 19 stepgrandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

William Oswinkle Spokane
No service will be held for William A. Oswinkle. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Oswinkle, who was born in Baltimore, died June 2. He was 63.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War as a sergeant.
Mr. Oswinkle worked as a salesman for an advertising company and was a 35-year resident of Spokane.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45, the YMCA, the Good Samaritan Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; three daughters, Vicki Garcia of Spokane, Billie Baker of Oregon and Alice Sills of Baltimore; two sons, Charles and Allen Holland, both of Spokane; a sister, Leona Garber of Spokane; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Richard McAteer Mead
Inurnment service for Richard A. McAteer, 81, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McAteer, who was born in Spokane, died Sunday.
He was raised in the Camden area and then served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
In 1945 he married Clara Sowl in Newport.
He worked installing televisions for a short time, then went to work for the Pend Oreille County Road District and then as a lineman with the public utility district. He retired in 1967.
He was a member of the Elk Veterans of Foreign Wars, Diamond Lake Grange and the Sheriff’s Posse.
Mr. McAteer also played the guitar and accordion in several local bands.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Bonnie West of Spokane and Janet Huffman of Tooele, Utah; a brother, Roy Allison of Poulsbo, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Lorimer Spokane
Memorial service for Evelyn May Lorimer, 76, is set for 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in St. John, Wash. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lorimer, who was born and raised in Seattle, died Sunday.
She retired from the Seattle Park Department in 1983 and then moved to St. John. She moved to Spokane two years ago.
Her husband, Gordon Lorimer, died in 1990.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Henning of St. John and Dianne Humphreys of Dome Creek, British Columbia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Albert Stone Cheney
Funeral for Albert E. Stone, 66, was Tuesday at Cheney Christian Church.
Mr. Stone, who was born in Colville, Wash., died Friday.
He was raised in Cheney and spent most of his life in the Spokane area.
Mr. Stone worked as a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Diana; two sons, Hal Pilarski and Jess Stone, both of Spokane; four daughters, Anjela Paje and Diana Smith, both of Spokane, Carole McCollum of Paradise, Mont., and Jessica Mason of Post Falls; his mother, Hazel Camp of Cheney; two sisters, Marie Larson of Liberty Lake and Mary Jane Kolnars of Cheney; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Ida Moore Spokane
Memorial service for Ida Mary Moore, 89, is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Riplinger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Moore, a 65-year resident of Spokane, died Saturday.
She was born in Edmonton, Alberta.
She worked as a teacher at Orchard Prairie School for many years.
Mrs. Moore was active in community organizations, including the Community Oriented Policing Station downtown and Crosswalk.
Survivors include a son, James Moore of Spokane; a brother, Alvy Bowman of Medford, Ore.; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Michael Dalgarn Spokane
No service will be held for Michael Timothy Dalgarn, 53, at his request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dalgarn, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Sunday.
He graduated from Shadle Park High School and had a career in food service, working in many Spokane establishments.
Survivors include his partner, John Perry at home; his mother and stepfather, Jane and Walter Palmer of Spokane; his father and stepmother, Bill and Ann Marie Dalgarn of Spokane; three sisters, Kimberly Dalgarn and Keeley Comard, both of Spokane, and Robyn Bolton of Edmonds, Wash.; and three brothers, Scott and Joel Dalgarn, both of Spokane, and Jon Dalgarn of Concrete, Wash.

George Vanhoff Spokane
Memorial service for George Vanhoff, 78, is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.
Mr. Vanhoff, who was born and raised in Mica, died Sunday.
He graduated in 1937 from Lindberg High School in Valleyford.
In 1939 he married Phyllis O’Connor in Valleyford.
Mr. Vanhoff served with the Navy in the Pacific during World War II.
He then worked for Union Oil for 16 years.
In 1960, he established and was a coowner of DASCO, a bakery supply and wholesale foods company in Veradale, which he operated until his retirement in 1995.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Dennis Vanhoff of Spokane and Gary Vanhoff of Veradale; two sisters, Margaret Bloom and Beverly Sherwood, both of Spokane; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Heber Chet Tenney Sagle
Private service for Heber Chet Tenney, 78, will be held at a later date. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Tenney, who was born in Arizona, died Saturday.
He attended school in Arizona and moved to Sagle in 1938.
Mr. Tenney raised cattle and operated the Sagle Cabinet Shop. He retired in 1988.
He was a member of Sandpoint Eagles Lodge 589.
Mr. Tenney was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors include four children, Janette Weatherly of Hayden, Idaho, Marie Forell of Coeur d’Alene, and Jess and Mike Tenney, both of Sagle; a brother, Frank Tenney of Spokane; three sisters, Teddy Cottrell of Mesa, Wash., Louise Cochran of St. Regis, Mont., and Florence Tenney of Spokane; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
