Clooney’S House-Sitter Redefines ‘Pigging’ Out

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Here’s a bit of advice from your favorite “ER” doctor, George Clooney: Give your house-sitter explicit instructions.

Clooney learned his lesson the hard way. After wrapping and exhausting season, which entailed finishing out “ER” and completing scenes for the forthcoming film “Out of Sight,” he headed out on a road-trip vacation tour with several friends in a bus.

Another friend was left in charge of his pot-bellied pig, which ended up looking like the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

“My pig was quite svelte the last time I saw him,” Clooney told reporter Luaine Lee. But his buddy “just panicked and fed him five times a day. I came home, and this pig is Shamu, his feet aren’t touching the ground. I’m looking at him and saying, ‘What happened?’ I call him my earthquake survival kit.”

Loose talk

Bruce Willis on religion (in George magazine): “Modern religion is the end trail of modern mythology. But there are people who interpret the Bible literally. Literally! I choose not to believe that’s the way. And that’s what makes America cool, you know?”

He’ll no doubt celebrate at the Copa, Copacabana

Barry Manilow turns 52 today.

As always, it was the crowd vs. Courtney Love

The newer, gentler Courtney Love reverted to her punker days a bit recently while playing tracks from her band Hole’s new album at Cherry, a West Hollywood, Calif., nightspot. Shaking her booty at the crowd, she spouted profanities, took off her shirt and danced, danced, danced.

Ex-macho man is now a Stone cold boytoy

Sharon Stone is, as we all know, someone who specializes in taming men. The New York Daily News is reporting that the movie star’s new husband, San Francisco Examiner executive editor Phil Bronstein - a man once known as “El Macho” - was spotted recently carrying a pair of women’s shoes to a repair shop near his office.

Even as a Fleetwood Mac LP, ‘rumors’ are often true

The rumor: Movie star Jennifer Lopez is seeing Tommy Mottola, the record executive and ex-husband of singer Mariah Carey. The response from Lopez: “Never was.” As for her relationship with Sean “Puffy” Combs, she claims it’s all just “rumors.”

Turns out Mulder is a bit on the loony side

David Duchovny gives a moon shot in the forthcoming “X-Files” movie. But, he admitted to TV Guide, dropped trousers don’t have much to do with the plot. “Unless,” he said, “the influence of a moon can be seen as an extraterrestrial phenomenon.”

So, Travis, tell us all about your sexy new pickup

The newest talk-show host is a veteran of the romance-writer wars: Jackie Collins. “They’re coming on as my friends,” Collins says of her guests, “so we’re having more of a conversation instead of an interview.” Those friends include George Clooney, George Benson, Randy Travis and more. The program premieres in selected cities on Monday.
