Ankeny Lakes has taken wild rice and made it even wilder.

For its Wild & Ricey Blend, the Salem, Ore., company combines wild and brown rices with spices and dehydrated carrots, celery, bell peppers and tomatoes. In water or broth, the gourmet mixture cooks up into a nutty-tasting pilaf.

Among other things, it goes great with seafoood - like some wild salmon, perhaps?

Price: $4.50-$5 for 16 ounces.

Available: In Spokane at Super 1 Foods, Egger Meats Southside and selected Rosauers supermarkets.
