Karl Jasper Spokane
Memorial service for Karl W. Jasper, 82, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith Bible Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Jasper died Saturday.
He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1935 and attended the University of Washington.
Mr. Jasper began his career in the mining industry in 1948, later becoming president of Grandview Mines, Metaline Mining and Leasing Co., and Admiral Consolidated Mining Co. He retired in 1988.
Mr. Jasper had served as a president of the Northwest Mining Association and was on the advisory board for Campus Crusade for Christ and the Union Gospel Mission.
He was also served on the executive board for the Inland Empire School of the Bible, served as chairman for the Christian Businessmen’s Committee International of Spokane, and served on the board of directors for Christian Services Inc., which owned and operated KCFA Radio, which is now KMBI Radio.
Mr. Jasper also was a member of the Faith Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marian; two sons, Robert Jasper of Kapaa, Hawaii, and Greg Jasper of Las Vegas; a daughter, Peggy Osterbuhr of Blue River, Ore.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Corkery Spokane
Vigil for Elizabeth Jane “Bette” Corkery, 77, will be at 5 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Corkery, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.
She attended schools in Spirit Lake, Idaho, before moving to Spokane in 1936.
She graduated with a degree in education from Holy Names College in 1942.
Mrs. Corkery taught school in Wellpinit, Wash., for several years, and later worked for the Standard Oil Co.
In 1974 she married Frank Corkery.
She volunteered with the Sacred Heart Service League for many years.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Pamela Almquist of Spokane and Paula Ford of Lewiston, Maine; two sons, Kevin Corkery of Spokane and Daniel Corkery of Ridgewood, N.J.; a sister, Mary Jane Wehrli of South Plymouth, N.Y.; a brother, Thomas Meeks of Spokane; and 11 grandchildren.
Dorothy Marotto Valleyford, Wash.
Graveside service for Dorothy A. Marotto, 76, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial service will follow at noon at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Marotto, who was born in Schenectady, N.Y., died Friday.
She moved to Valleyford in 1942 and worked as an accountant. She had operated Marotto Accounting and Tax Service in Valleyford for the past 25 years.
Mrs. Marotto was a member of the Washington Accounting Association, the National Enrolled Agents Association and Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
Her husband, John, died in 1987.
Survivors include six sons, Clayton Marotto of Las Vegas, Howard Marotto of Detroit, Terry Marotto of Lacey, Wash., and James, Robert and John Marotto, all of Valleyford; a sister, Lucille Horton of Forestburg, N.Y.; a brother, Donald St. Priest of Evanston, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
James Hodge Coolin, Idaho
Memorial service for James William Hodge, 83, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Coolin Community Center. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hodge, who was born in Laclede, Idaho, died Monday.
He attended schools in Coolin, where his family operated the Idaho Inn from 1924 until 1944.
Mr. Hodge worked for the Schaefer Hitchcock Co., Diamond Match Co., the Priest Lake Protective Timber Association and the Idaho Department of Lands.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Laura Dougherty Spokane
Vigil for Laura P. Dougherty, 69, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Dougherty, who was born in Great Falls, Mont., died Saturday.
She received a bachelor’s degree from Great Falls College, completing her medical technology internship at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.
Mrs. Dougherty began her career as a medical technologist at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Yakima, later working at the Sisters of Providence Hospital as a microbiologist and instructor for 25 years. She retired from Sacred Heart Hospital in 1995.
She was a lifetime member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her husband, Don; five daughters, Jean Hodgson of Kirkland, Wash., Katy, Molly and Sara Dougherty, all of Seattle, and Megan Dougherty of Bellingham; three sisters, Lila Jane Burnaby and Carol MacGowan, both of Great Falls, and Frances Carlson of Kirkland; and one granddaughter.

Alvilda Wester Spokane
Funeral for Alvilda Wester, 95, will be at 11 a.m. today at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wester, who was born in Hazel Run, Minn., died Sunday.
She moved to Spokane in 1943 and was a homemaker and a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.
Her husband, George, died in 1981.
Mrs. Wester is survived by four brothers, Elmer Foss of Fairbanks, Alaska, Hjalmer and George Foss, both of Spokane, and Norman Foss of Granite Falls, Minn.
John Dalebout Priest River, Idaho
Funeral for John Dalebout, 75, will be at 1 p.m. today at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River. Graveside service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River.
Mr. Dalebout, who was born in Fortuna, N.D., died Saturday.
He moved to Priest River in 1936.
Mr. Dalebout served with the Army in the European Theater during World War II.
In 1946 he married Phyllis Willcocks.
In Priest River he worked as a sawyer, for the E.C. Olson Lumber Co., Boyd Stevens Logging, Bert Fillis and the Diamond Match road crew over the years. He retired from the logging industry in 1986.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Janice Ingersoll of Gig Harbor, Wash., and JoAnn Wylie of Priest River; a son, Jerry Dalebout of Priest River; three brothers, Cornelius, Sam and Carl Dalebout; five sisters, Jackomena Aleffi, Jennie Dillon, Nellie Brown, Cornelia Cross and Mary Denton; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Paul Dehner Spokane
Memorial service for Paul J. Dehner, 69, will be at 3 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.
A 36-year Spokane resident, Mr. Dehner died Friday. He was born in Oil City, Penn.
He served in the Air Force from 1949 until 1971 and later worked as a traffic controller in the construction industry.
Mr. Dehner was a member of the Elks and Eagles lodges.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Sonia Cowen of Carlsbad, N.M., and Evette Cowen of Seattle.
Pearl Davis Lind, Wash.
Memorial service for Pearl M. Davis, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash.
Mrs. Davis, who was born in Kettle Falls, Wash., died Friday while visiting Redlands, Calif.
She attended schools in Republic, Wash., and in 1932 married Perry Davis.
They owned a cattle ranch in Republic from 1933 until 1976, when they moved to Lind.
Her husband died in 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise Kennedy of Longview, Wash., and Betty Maxwell of Redlands; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Donald Dammarell Spokane
Graveside service for Donald R. Dammarell, 72, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dammarell, who was born in Little Bear Ridge, Idaho, near Kendrick, died Sunday.
He was raised and graduated from high school in Kendrick.
Mr. Dammarell served in the Navy during World War II. He was stationed at Farragut Naval Training Center.
Mr. Dammarell worked for the Postal Service in Spokane.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Kendrick Post 3913, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 and the National Rifle Association.
His was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Laura.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Dammarell of Post Falls and Terry Dammarell of Reno, Nev.; two daughters, Christine Dammarell of Kennewick and Betsy Carson of Water Valley, Miss.; two stepsons, Bob Barton of Bellevue, Wash., and Gary Barton of Spokane; his mother, Olive Dammarell of Kendrick; three brothers, Frank Dammarell of Kendrick, Max Dammarell of Walla Walla and Ed Dammarell of Lewiston; three sisters, Dorothy Peterson and Maxine Benedict, both of Lewiston and Francis Whybark-Johns of Kendrick; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Dorothy (Knutsen) Barr Spokane
Visitation for Dorothy (Knutsen) Barr, 95, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church. Graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Barr, who died Friday, was born in Oakfield, Iowa.
She graduated from Oakfield High School.
She lived in Spokane from 1936 until 1950, when she moved to California.
Mrs. Barr owned and operated a The Blimp restaurant in San Mateo, Calif., from 1951 until 1962. She returned to Spokane after the death of her husband, John, in 1982.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge Auxiliary, both in Spokane.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Weitze of Spokane and Carolyn O’Loughlin of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Clarence Carroll of Oak Harbor, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Martha Graham Dayton, Wash.
Graveside service for Martha Ovella Graham, 95, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Finley-Sunset Hills Cemetery in Portland. Hubbard-Rogg Funeral Home in Dayton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Graham, who was born in Coin, Iowa, died Thursday.
She graduated from Fort Morgan (Colo.) High School and later from Tarkio (Mo.) College.
Mrs. Graham taught school in Oklahoma for several years before marrying William Graham.
They moved to Spokane in 1930, and she taught English and Latin at Lewis and Clark High School for 15 years before retiring in 1968.
Her husband died in 1985, and she moved to Dayton.
Mrs. Graham was a member of the League of Women Voters, the Women’s Cook Book Club and Westminster Congregational Church in Spokane.
Survivors include a son, William Graham of Dayton; a daughter, Martha Clark of Portland; a sister, Florence Gimmel of Elliot, Iowa; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Gary McGinnis Colfax, Wash.
Memorial service for Gary Duane McGinnis, 63, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash. Inurnment will be at the Bethel Cemetery in Steptoe, Wash.
Mr. McGinnis, who died Feb. 16, was born in Palouse.
He graduated from Sprague (Wash.) High School in 1955 before enlisting in the Army and serving for four years.
After his discharge Mr. McGinnis worked as a cement finisher in Longview, Wash., for several years before working in the construction industry in the Pullman and Moscow, Idaho, area.
Following a heart attack and stroke in 1985 he became disabled. He moved to Colfax in 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Nikki McGinnis of Ridgefield, Wash.; two brothers, Bill McGinnis of Longview, Wash., and Jim McGinnis of Troy, Idaho; a sister, Sharon McGinnis of Palouse; and his grandmother, Catherine Parrish of Pullman.

Virginia Martin Kingston, Idaho

Mrs. Martin, a lifetime Silver Valley resident, died Sunday.
She was born in Kellogg and graduated from Kingston High School in 1949.
She was a homemaker and a member of Kingston Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Lester; three sons, Michael Martin of Shelton, Wash., Gary Martin of Pinehurst, Idaho and Sam Martin of Kingston; three daughters, Linda Tompkins of Palouse, Wash., Virginia Nelson of Absarokee, Mont., and Leslie Neilson of Kansas; two sisters, Ellen Johnson and Sylvia Simmons, both of California; a brother, James Herlin of Spokane; 28 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Clinton Taylor Post Falls
Memorial service for Clinton D. Taylor, 80, will be at 7 p.m. Friday at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Taylor, who was born in Escalante, Utah, died Thursday.
He served with the Army during World War II and then lived in California and worked as a machinist.
Mr. Taylor moved to Post Falls 13 years ago from Pomona, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; five sons, William Shirts and Ronald Taylor, both of Coeur d’Alene, John Taylor of Post Falls, Art Taylor of Nevada, and Morris Taylor of Republic, Wash.; two daughters, Bernice Johnson of Nevada and Terry Kusener of Rathdrum, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
John Myrvang Reno, Nev.
Memorial service for John A. Myrvang, 44, was Saturday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River, Idaho. Inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River at a later date.
Mr. Myrvang, who was born in Sandpoint, died Feb. 20.
He graduated from Rogers High School in 1973 and attended Spokane Community College for two years before serving in the Marine Corps for four years.
Mr. Myrvang had been working at the Cal-Neva Casino in Reno for the past few years.
Survivors include his mother, Lois Whepham of Spokane; three sisters, Judith Hayes and Janice Myrvang, both of Spokane, and Jennifer Myrvang of Priest River.
