Dorothy (Nagle) Fiscus Potlatch, Idaho

Rosary for Dorothy Alene (Nagle) Fiscus, 71, will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Potlatch. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at the Freeze Cemetery north of Potlatch. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Potlatch resident, Mrs. Fiscus died Monday.

Mrs. Fiscus grew up in the rural Potlatch area. In 1947 she graduated from Potlatch High school and married Chester Fiscus.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Gritman Hospital Auxiliary, a 19-year member of the Crane 4-H Club, a member of The Lazy Dozen Social Club and the Potlatch Parent Teacher Association, for which she served as president. She was a member of Silver Spurs Remuda Saddle Club, Mountain Home Grange, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Altar Society and the Crane Creek Busy Workers Club.

Mrs. Fiscus spent her summers on the Lochsa and Selway rivers, volunteering and hosting at the Lochsa Ranger Station.

She also took horse driving lessons and spent some of her summers on wagon trips and working at horse shows and at O-mok-see’s, a celebration held annually by the Silver Spurs Saddle Club.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ron and Steve Fiscus, both of Potlatch; two daughters, Marilyn Crumley of Moscow, Idaho, and Carolyn Gottschalk of Potlatch; two brothers, Don Nagle of Potlatch and Jerry Nagle of Lewiston; a sister, Shirley King of Princeton, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Freeze Cemetery.

Stella Roch Otis Orchards

Rosary for Stella R. Roch, 90, will be at 9:30 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Post Falls. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 19-year Spokane area resident, Mrs. Roch died Monday.

Mrs. Roch was a homemaker and was a member of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in the Los Angeles area for 16 years, where she also served as a chairman.

She had been a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Post Falls for the past several years.

Survivors include her husband, Francis; and a son, James Moss of Valdosta, Ga.

David Williams Blanchard, Idaho

Private inurnment for David Len Williams, 40, will be at the Newport Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Williams, who was born in Merced, Calif., died last Wednesday while working in Phoenix.

He was working in maintenance and operations for the Big Apple Carnival Co.

Survivors include two sisters, Bobbie Zoet of Blanchard and Linda Magelby of Merced; and two brothers, Howard Williams of Spokane and John Hargett of Post Falls.

Donna White Palouse, Wash.

Memorial service for Donna Jean White, 63, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Colfax (Wash.) Church of the Nazarene. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. White, who was born in Sheridan, Wyo., died Monday.

She grew up in Montana and Oregon, graduating from Ashland (Ore.) High School in 1954.

Mrs. White later married Gene Litwiller, and they lived in Germany for a few years before returning to Ashland, where she owned and operated a bath boutique for several years.

She was later divorced from her first husband.

Mrs. White moved to Whitman County in 1974 and settled in Potlatch, Idaho, where she owned and operated the Silver Saddle Bar for several years. In 1977 she married Donald White.

She later sold the business and worked at various places, including as the manager at the Colfax Elks Lodge.

Mrs. White most recently was working as a cook at a sorority on the Washington State University campus and was a member of the Colfax Elks Lodge Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Kevin and Doug Litwiller, both of Medford, Ore., and Randy Litwiller of Eugene, Ore.; two stepsons, Dennis White of Endicott, Wash., and Sammie White of Pullman; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Whitman Hospital Foundation.

Gene Hubbard Spokane

Memorial service for Gene Hubbard, 70, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

A longtime Spokane area resident, Mr. Hubbard died Friday. He was born in Colfax, Wash.

Mr. Hubbard served with the Navy during World War II and later worked as an instrumentation engineer and farrier.

He also was a race car driver, belonging to various car racing associations, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include three daughters, Joan Lilyblad of Seattle; Diane McGillivray of Kingston, Idaho, and Judy Magnus of Pinehurst, Idaho; two sons, Hal Hubbard of Seattle and Charles Hubbard of Post Falls; a brother, Vern Hubbard of Las Vegas; a sister, Marjorie Vaughn of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

James Gordon Post Falls

Service for James Gordon, 85, will be today at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. Gordon, who was born in San Diego, died Monday.

He was a chief warrant officer and a ship bosun in the Navy, retiring in 1963 after 30 years of service.

Mr. Gordon was a Ritzville, Wash., resident and was a golf pro before moving to Post Falls 10 years ago.

Survivors include two brothers, John and Donald Gordon, both of San Diego; and two nieces, Kathy Pack and Donna Gordon.

Louise Senft Sandpoint

Private service for Louise Elizabeth Senft, 89, will be held at a later date. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Senft, who was born in Hubbard, Minn., died Saturday.

She had lived in Saskatchewan before settling in Kalispell, Mont., where she graduated from high school and later earned a teaching certificate from the Montana Normal School system.

Mrs. Senft taught school in the Flathead, Mont., area and in 1934 married Ed Senft.

She moved to Sandpoint in 1936 and was a substitute teacher at area schools. She also was a window dresser for Sandpoint department stores and retired in 1945.

Mrs. Senft was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

There are no immediate survivors.

June Palmer St. Maries

Memorial service for June Dorothy Palmer, 73, will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Spokane. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Palmer, who was born in Arlington, S.D., died Sunday.

She grew up in Spokane, graduating from North Central High School in 1943. She worked at Seafirst Bank and in 1947 married Harold Palmer.

Mrs. Palmer moved to Bakersfield, Calif., in 1961 and worked as a bookkeeper and also was a homemaker.

Her husband died in 1967, and she returned to Spokane and then moved to Seattle in 1972.

Mrs. Palmer attended Highline Community College in Seattle and studied bookkeeping and continued to work as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1988 and moving to St. Maries.

She was a member of the Benewah Home Demonstration Club.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce Palmer of Snohomish, Wash., and Douglas Palmer of Monroe, Wash.; three daughters, Renita Radmer of St. Maries, Karen Palmer of Kirkland, Wash., and Janice Heath of Spokane; a brother, A.T. Nevdahl of Spokane; three sisters, Doris Davies of Pullman, Henena Tomlinsin of Kent, Wash., and Muriel Erickson of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Gerhardt Riediger Spokane

Memorial service for Gerhardt Riediger, 91, was held Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church.

A 48-year Spokane resident, Mr. Riediger died Friday. He was born in Boyd, Minn.

Mr. Riediger was a farmer in Minnesota for many years before moving to the Spokane area in 1951.

He then worked as a pot liner at Kaiser Aluminum Mead for 23 years.

Mr. Riediger was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ethel; two daughters, Sandra Riediger and Gloria Jones; a son, Roger Riediger; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Lydia Cordes Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Service for Lydia L. Cordes, 97, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cordes, who was born in Indiana, died Monday.

She grew up in Indiana and in 1922 married William Cordes, and they moved to Sandpoint in 1940.

Mrs. Cordes moved to Turner Hill Road north of Bonners Ferry in 1946 and established a Grade A dairy operation before retiring in the 1960s.

She was active with Trinity Lutheran Church and spent winters in Southern California.

Her husband died in 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Sheldon Cordes of Boise and Gordon Cordes of Sandpoint; a daughter, Arleen Ensign of California; two sisters, Esther Woodard of Indiana and Eda Rasp of Seattle; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild..

George Zucker Spokane

Graveside inurnment for George Charles Zucker will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Soap Lake, Wash. Memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the Block 40 Community Center in Moses Lake. Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Zucker, who was born in Spokane, died Feb. 20. He was 80.

In 1946 he married Lillian Caudill. He owned and operated Northwest Livestock at the old stockyards until the late 1950s.

In the early 1960s he moved to Moses Lake to develop a cattle ranch. Mr. Zucker traveled extensively, buying cattle for Hygrade, Armour and other cattle operations in Montana, Idaho and Washington.

His wife died in 1990. He later married Marilyn Allen. They moved to Soap Lake.

Survivors include his wife; a son, George Zucker of Pasco; a daughter, Lee Dowers of Moses Lake; a sister, Marion Northway of Spokane; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
