Three Complete Projects, Earn Eagle Scout Awards
Three local Boy Scouts recently earned their Eagle rank, the highest awarded in the Boy Scouts of America.
For his Eagle Project, Kyle Griner, a member of Troop 490, color-coded fire hydrants and attached reflective flags for the Moab Water District. The project benefits the water district as well as the Newman Lake Fire Department, which can now better locate and identify fire hydrants in the Newman Lake area.
Griner, a student at East Valley High School, is the son of Mark and Sue Griner, Newman Lake.
Andrew Nygaard of Troop 21, painted the back porch, stairs, playground equipment and parking lot at the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.
He is the son of Stan and Lucy Nygaard, Spokane, and a senior at Shadle Park High School.
Jeremy Page of Troop 100 detailed the mapping of bike trails in the Nine Mile section of Riverside State Park.
Page is a senior at Shadle Park High School and the son of John and Cori Page, Spokane.
Justin Lewis has been named an All-American Scholar by the U.S. Achievement Academy, based on his superior academic standing. He was nominated by social studies teacher Greg Schultz and will appear in the nationally published All-American Scholar Yearbook.
Lewis is a student at Mt. Spokane High School and the son of Richard and Chris Lewis, Spokane.
