Fish Bowls

Wild salmon season may be over, but you can still bag some of the flavorful fish for dinner.

SeaBear Smokehouse in Anacortes, Wash., packages a pair of soups made with smoked wild Alaskan salmon: a salmon chowder that requires the addition of milk, and a ready-to-eat salmon chili.

Both come in shelf-stable pouches that need no refrigeration. Just think of it as Y2K gourmet.

Price: About $5-$6 for 12-ounce chowder (makes 24 ounces) or 16-ounce chili.

Available: In the meat departments of selected area Tidyman’s and Rosauers stores, and at Made in Washington; for a complete catalog of salmon products, visit www.seabear.com or call (800) 645-3474.
