Eddie Comstock Post Falls

Inurnment and Masonic graveside service for Eddie R. Comstock, 68, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Spirit Lake Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service at the Rathdrum Masonic Temple. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Comstock, who was born in Van Buren, Ariz., died Sunday.

He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and then lived in the Los Angeles area. He worked as a long-haul truck driver and a master carpenter before moving to Post Falls in 1983.

Mr. Comstock was a past master and member of the Rathdrum and Spirit Lake Masonic lodges and had served as past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Clover Chapter 33, and Rose Lake 84. He also was a member of the York Rite Bodies and Scottish Rite Valley in Coeur d’Alene.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Helen; two sons, Michael Comstock of California and David Comstock of Battleground, Wash.; a daughter, Cynthia Stevenson of Spirit Lake; his mother, Opal Comstock of Arizona; a brother, Donald Comstock of Van Buren; a sister, Nelda Barela of California; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Foundation of Idaho for Children’s Language Disorders, c/o The Scottish Rite Valley of Coeur d’Alene.

Krista Woelfel Spokane

Memorial service for Krista Marie Woelfel, 41, was Tuesday at St. David’s Episcopal Church.

A 37-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Woelfel died Saturday. She was born in Chelsea, Wash.

She graduated from Mead High School and received a master’s degree from Eastern Washington University.

She taught school for the Riverside School District for 17 years.

Mrs. Woelfel received the Governor’s Award for preserving local history in Chattaroy and served on the board of the Eastern Washington State Historical Society. She was one of 12 teachers selected to visit Kobi, Japan, as an education liaison for the state.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn and Sara Sweeney; her parents, Eugene and Carolyn Brower of Spokane, and Paul and Lois Woelfel of Lewiston, Idaho; four brothers, Kevin and Eric Woelfel, and Dennis and John Brower; and four sisters, Nancy Steele, Jane Woelfel, Lynn Bates and Beth Moore.

Everett Koch Valleyford

Graveside service for Everett L. Koch, 81, is planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Moran Prairie Cemetery. A reception will follow at Valleyford Fire Station. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Koch, who was born in Ritzville, Wash., died Friday.

He graduated from Farmington (Wash.) High School in 1936. His family moved to Valleyford in 1939.

Mr. Koch farmed grain in the Valleyford area for several years. He was a member of the Moran Grange 161.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Peggy; a son, David Koch of Valleyford; a daughter, Sharon McNamara of Spokane; a brother, Roy Koch of Ritzville; and three grandchildren.

George Needs Priest River, Idaho

Private memorial service will be held for George Walter Needs, 91. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Needs, who was born in West Plains, Mo., died Friday.

In 1965 he moved to Priest River from southern Idaho.

Mr. Needs worked as a farmer and a logger. He also owned a Union 76 station in Nordman, Idaho, for several years.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Blanche; six children, Dennis Needs of Laclede, Idaho, Pat Hansen, Terry and Jeff Needs, and Kathy Spitz, all of of Priest River, and Larry Needs of Soldotna, Alaska; two brothers, Orville and John Needs; four sisters, Marie Harris, Wauneta Roberts, and Ruby and Omeida Kersey; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Kathryn Marshall Spirit Lake, Idaho

No service will be held for Kathryn Janette Marshall, 85, at her request. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Spokane, Mrs. Marshall died Sunday.

She graduated from high school in LaGrande, Ore., and then graduated from Cheney Normal School. She taught in Cheney for three years.

Mrs. Marshall lived in Tacoma, Wash., and settled in the Spokane Valley after World War II. She moved to Spirit Lake in 1969.

She trained and showed dogs and served as an American Kennel Club obedience judge for 30 years.

Mrs. Marshall was a member and past matron of the Magnolia Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, in Millwood.

Survivors include a son, Richard Marshall of Spirit Lake; a daughter, Georgia Lemley of Boise; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Curtis Christie Kirkland, Wash.

Service for Curtis Frank Christie, 32, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Troy (Idaho) Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow, Idaho, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Christie, who was born in Canyonville, Ore., died Sunday from congestive heart failure.

He grew up in Pomeroy, Wash., and later moved to Troy, Idaho, where he graduated from high school. He received an undergraduate degree in business management in 1990 from the University of Idaho.

Mr. Christie married Deborah Walter in 1990 and graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1994.

He then became the public defender in Pocatello for Bannock County for three years and moved to Seattle where he worked as an attorney.

Mr. Christie was a member of the Idaho and Washington bar associations.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert “Robby” Christie of Kirkland; his mother and father, Eva Diebel of Troy, and Don Christie of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two sisters, Liza Morris and Gretchen Hawes, both of Boise; and his grandparents, John Orvil and Mary Carlson, both of Troy, and Daisy Christie of Lake Havasu City.

James Gridley Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for James H. Gridley, 83, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. Gridley, a lifetime Coeur d’Alene resident, died Monday.

He married Audrey Jackson in 1940 and joined his father at Gridley Investment in 1945. Mr. Gridley retired from the business in 1983. He was also an appraiser.

He was a past president of the Coeur d’Alene Board of Realtors, the Idaho Association of Realtors., the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce and past chairman of the Idaho Real Estate Commission.

Mr. Gridley was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge where he served as past exalted ruler. He was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Skeet and Trap Club and was a charter member of the Coeur d’Alene Public Golf Course Association.

His wife died in January.

Survivors include two sons, Robert and Jay Gridley, both of Coeur d’Alene; a daughter, Lynn Jensen of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Margaret Giesa of Post Falls; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Geraldine `Jerry’ Farrar Coeur d’Alene

Private graveside service for Geraldine Lillian “Jerry” Farrar, 86, will be at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Farrar, who was born in Corbin, Ky., died Sunday.

She grew up in California and married Hank Farrar in 1929, beginning a 70-year marriage. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1981.

Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Edward and Walter Alsip, both of California; two grandchildren, Randy and Carol; and five great-grandchildren.

John Selcho Moses Lake

Graveside service for John Selcho, 93, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Pioneer Memorial Gardens in Moses Lake. Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake is in charge of arrangements.

A 22-year Moses Lake resident, Mr. Selcho died Saturday.

He was born in Russia and came to the United States as an infant.

In 1930 he married Esther Lloyd.

They owned service stations in Ritzville, Wash., and Moses Lake.

His wife she died in 1995.

Survivors include a son, Raymond Selcho of Coffeyville, Kan.; four daughters, Bernice Basso of Moses Lake, Sharon Moore of Wenatchee, Joan Hauge of Sacramento, Calif., and Verna Taylor of Lyman, S.C.; two sisters, Stephanie Jacobsen of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Violet Harlow of Dayton, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Patricia (Kolb) Hartman Spokane

Memorial service for Patricia Carol (Kolb) Hartman, 52, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Evangelical Free Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Hartman died Aug. 23.

She worked as a home health care provider.

Survivors include a son, Gregory Hartman of Seattle; her mother, Martha Kolb of Spokane; and two brothers, Don Kolb of St. John, Wash., and Lee Kolb of Lakewood, Wash.

Eunice Shull Bayview, Idaho

Private memorial service for Eunice Shull, 94, will be held at a later date at Lewiston (Idaho)- Normal Cemetery. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shull who was born in LaGrande, Ore., died Sunday.

She graduated from high school in Pendleton, Ore., and then moved to Lewiston. She worked as a telephone operator until 1926 when she married Jack Shull.

She and her husband operated a contract laundry route in the Lewiston area.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Hells Canyon Boat Club.

Her husband died in 1986.

Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Miller of Salem, Ore., Shirley Hansen of Bayview and Marilyn Buchet of Edmonds, Wash.; special friend, Rite Paolini of Asotin, Wash.; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Edna Page Spokane

Graveside service for Edna V. Page, 93, will be at 10 a.m. today at Pines Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 86-year Spokane resident, Miss Page died Friday. She was born in De Borgia, Mont.

In 1925 she went to work at The Crescent department store. She was a buyer in the silver jewelry and flatware department for 18 years. Miss Page later worked for Schindler’s Orthotics and Prosthetics Inc. as a fitter.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include a nephew, William Norgren of Wilbur, Wash.; and a niece, Dorothy Peterson of Spokane.

Kenneth White Sr. Greenacres

Memorial service for Kenneth Ray White Sr., 61, will be at 1 p.m. today at Pines Baptist Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. White, who was born in Fittstown, Okla., died Sunday.

He graduated from North Central High school in 1956.

Mr. White worked for Crystal Linen Supply for 20 years. He later worked as a steelworker at Ryerson Steel for 10 years. He was a member of the East Valley Baptist Church and the Teamsters Union.

Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Corey White Sr. of Spokane, Craig White of Seattle and Kenneth White Jr. of Kailua, Hawaii; his mother, Lorraine White, and a sister, Janice White, both of San Jose, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
