Lakeside Achieves Title Shot

Amy Fuchs had 12 rebounds Friday night as Lakeside defeated Potlatch 41-34 to advance to the championship game of the A-3 District I-II tournament at Lewiston High.

Lakeside will play Clearwater Valley (15-6) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for a berth to state. Clearwater Valley defeated Lapwai 68-56 in the night’s other game.

Lakeside had a double-digit lead after three quarters, but the Knights took time sealing the win because of their 9-for-23 shooting from the free-throw line.

Potlatch plays Wallace (10-11) at 7:30 p.m. Monday in a loser-out game.

Courtenay Kiebert hit back-to-back 3-pointers late in the first quarter for a seven-point lead, and the visiting Wampus Cats defeated the Warriors at Harrison to clinch the league title.

Kiebert finished with eight rebounds and six steals. Sarah Andersen had six steals and five assists for Kootenai, and Cara Schlepp added six steals and six rebounds.

The A-4 District I tournament begins Thursday at Lakeland High in Rathdrum. No. 1 Clark Fork plays No.4 Falls Christian (0-19) at 6 p.m., followed by No. 2 Kootenai vs. No. 3 Mullan (3-16). Both are loser-out games.

Amanda Holstrom scored 22 points and Chelsey Thomas hit 4 of 4 3-pointers in the second half to lift the visiting Eagles over the Bantams.

WV hit 10 3-pointers and outscored the Bantams 17-5 from the line.
