Baumann Testifies Before Panel

Dieter Baumann, the 1992 Olympic 5,000-meter champion facing a two-year ban after failing drug tests, told a legal panel he was the victim of a conspiracy.

The panel set up by the German track and field federation (DLV) will decide in the coming weeks whether to ban Baumann, who remains suspended.

In his 3-hour testimony behind closed doors, Baumann told the panel the steroid had entered his body through the “actions of a third party.”
