Take off edge with Zenmaster

It's yoga in a bottle.

This time of year, especially, we could all use some inner peace.

So if your Christmas gift shopping list is still a mile long, take note: Peace now comes in a bottle.

Spokane’s Soda Factory recently began selling a new soda with natural ingredients they say can help reduce stress. Zenmaster Lemon-Lime soda contains L-Theanine, an amino acid naturally found in green tea. Creators say Zenmaster, pictured below, is an alpha brainwave enhancer — those are the neurons clicking when our body is resting, say during yoga or meditation. According to a news release, local customers who have tried Zenmaster have noticed increased relaxation, decreased restlessness and reduced stress.

The soda is a collaborative effort between two Spokane companies, Zenmaster and RS Beverage Company (formerly Real Soda Spokane.) When a trial run quickly sold out, they were overwhelmed.

“We ran out for a few days, and I had customers coming into the store daily to see if Zenmaster was back in stock yet,” said Roberta Reisdorf of The Soda Factory. There are plans for a second flavor in the next few months.

Zenmaster is available at Huckleberry’s, Pilgrim’s Nutrition stores, Tidyman’s, Rosauers and the Soda Factory, 715 E. Sprague Ave., Suite 125. For more information, call 755-7632.

Wild ticket

Anyone with a taste for the wild knows what to put on their Christmas list every year.

Tickets to the North Idaho College’s Wild Game Feast are on sale. The sixth annual event is scheduled for Jan. 15 and is hosted by the college’s alumni association.

This year the four-course meal was created by Coeur d’Alene Inn chef Gene Tillman and features smoked salmon pitas with cream cheese, firecracker alligator Caesar salad and braised venison.

Odom Northwest fine wine manager Dean Opsal will be a featured speaker and suggest wine to complement the wild game menu. There also will be music and a silent auction. The artwork of Dianne Munkittrick, an NIC graduate, will be displayed.

Appetizers will be served at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 at the Coeur d’Alene Inn, 414 W. Appleway. All proceeds will benefit the NIC Alumni Association and scholarships for NIC students. Tickets are $50 per person or $45 for alumni association members. For tickets, call (208) 769-7806 or mail a check to the NIC Alumni Association, 1000 W. Garden Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
