Flag Day festivities at Fairfield begin early

From staff reports

The annual Flag Day celebration in Fairfield kicks off at 7 a.m. Saturday with a 3.5-mile fun run that begins in Lower Park. The day will continue with a breakfast put on by the Fairfield Fire Department at the Community Center from 7 to 10 a.m. A kid’s parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at Schmitz’s Corner.

One of the favorite Flag Day events is the parade, which starts at 11 a.m. The famous “Yahoo” yodeler, Wylie Gustafson of Dusty, Wash., will be the grand marshal. He will perform in the park after the parade at 1 p.m.

Other live entertainment in the park during the afternoon includes the Intergalactic Drugstore Cowboys and Second Chance and the Plaid Cats. There will be a barbecue and a beer garden.

The final event of the day is the family dance at 7 p.m. The band Four on the Floor will provide the music and all ages are welcome.
