Treva Lind Correspondent

A Coeur d’Alene horse show this Saturday will feature more than 50 head of horses for sale and show.

The Second Annual Morgan Horse Open House is a free event, open to the public to see horses and horse-related vendors at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, North Barns and Arena, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This year’s show will feature Friesians – black draft horses originally from Europe – and Morgan horses from three states. The Inland Empire Morgan Horse Club from Spokane, the Rainbow Morgan Horse Association, the Working Western Morgan Horse Club and the Big Sky Morgan Horse club from Montana will attend.

Several horse-related vendors will be on hand, and the show will include 15-plus horse barns. In addition, the Dachshund Club of Spokane will show rescued wiener dogs from Dachshund Rescue NW.

All horse breeds are welcome for the day if horse owners have stallions at stud or horses for sale. Additional equestrian vendors also are welcomed.

A Liberty Class scheduled for noon will spotlight horses turned loose one at a time in the arena to show off. One horse voted the best wins the jackpot of $5 per entry.
