Arrest made in drive-by shooting

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane deputies arrested a 17-year-old Stevens County male for allegedly shooting at a car with two passengers Wednesday on Seven Mile Road west of the Spokane River.

He was a passenger in a Ford Bronco driven by 28-year-old Stephanie R. Peone of Ford, Wash., according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. She was not arrested because of her “late-stage pregnancy,” a sheriff’s spokesman said, adding that probable cause does exist for her arrest for two counts of first-degree assault.

The shooting occurred around 4:50 p.m. after a dispute at the river, where the victim and others were swimming. The victim said he chased the Bronco to obtain its license plate after the dispute, and that an occupant in the Bronco then fired shots into his passenger door.

During the investigation, deputies found eight .22-caliber bullet casings in the West 18100 block of Seven Mile Road. Neither of the victims was injured.

The youth was booked into Spokane County Juvenile Detention on two counts of first-degree assault.
