Annual auction planned Saturday in Edwall

Join Christian Heritage School in Edwall, Wash., for its 16th annual benefit auction on Saturday.

The day’s events will include a rummage sale from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the elementary school’s gym. A silent auction will be held from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. and a live auction will begin at noon in the high school gym.

Items up for bid include hot tub suites at various locations, a variety of hotel packages, dental cleanings, automobile accessories, furniture, kitchen accessories, tools, lawn care items, sporting events tickets and an assortment of dining certificates.

Homemade breakfast and lunch concessions will be available, as well as child care for children ages 3 and up.

New donation center

The Arc of Spokane will open a new donation center on Monday.

Located at 2403 E. Euclid Ave., the center will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Accepted tax-deductible donations include any type of clothing, shoes, boots, bedding, linens, lamps, house wares, tapes, records, toys, jewelry, pots and pans, radios, small stereos, small furniture and knickknacks.

Requests will still be taken to have donations picked up from your home. Call 328-8100 for more information.

The Arc of Spokane is a nonprofit organization which provides assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in the Spokane area.

St. Patrick’s Day events

“Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by attending the “Spirit of St. Patrick Party” to benefit Catholic Charities’ St. Margaret’s Shelter for homeless women and children.

Enjoy an Irish buffet, frothy brew, prizes and dancing on Friday in the commons at Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.

“The Has Beens and Gonna Bees will host a St. Patrick’s Day dance and silent auction on March 18 at the Market Street Market Place, 5906 N. Market St.

The auction will include such items as Seattle Seahawks and Dale Earnhardt Sr. baskets. Live music will be provided by local talent and light refreshments will be served.

The festivities will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for children; $1 will be taken of the ticket price with a food donation of a baking item, such as a cake mix or frosting.

The Has Beens and Gonna Bees is a local nonprofit organization that hosts fund-raisers for Christmas Cheer Day, a celebration held at the Northeast Community Center open to low-income families and disabled or elderly people in the Spokane area.

Presidential award

Ric Gaunt, a board member of the Inland Northwest Chapter of the American Red Cross, has recently been awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award from President George W. Bush’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.
