Rid home of hazardous wastes in April

The Spokesman-Review

Valley residents will have the chance to safely get rid of household hazardous waste items on Saturdays in April. The annual event is sponsored by the Spokane Aquifer Joint Board, Spokane Valley Fire, Spokane Regional Solid Waste System, the Senior Volunteer Program and SCOPE.

Examples of hazardous items include household cleaners, paint, various automotive fluids (oil, etc.), stain removers and gardening chemicals. The drop-off is free of charge. Call 363-1066 for more information.

Also, April 29 is Spring Green day. Seniors and the disabled may call 532-7645 to arrange to have volunteers come to their home to pick up hazardous items free of charge.

Household contaminates may always be brought to any of the three Spokane area Transfer Stations free of charge. Call the recycling hotline at 625-6800 for locations and hours.
