The game

Eighth-ranked and unbeaten Washington State University survived a poor shooting night by both teams to edge 17th-ranked Gonzaga 51-47 in men’s basketball Wednesday night before a sellout crowd of 6,000 at McCarthey Athletic Center.

The history

The Bulldogs have played the Cougars 143 times since 1907 (WSU won the inaugural game 21-18), but this was their first meeting as nationally ranked opponents. Washington State leads the overall series 97-46.
