NBA : Bucks snap Spurs’ winning streak

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Michael Redd scored 29 points to help the Milwaukee Bucks beat San Antonio 101-90 Thursday night in Milwaukee, ending the Spurs’ 13-game winning streak and giving the team a boost in the NBA coaching debut of Larry Krystkowiak.

Krystkowiak, who agreed to a multiyear deal to take over the Bucks hours after they fired coach Terry Stotts on Wednesday, was thrown in immediately to face the NBA’s hottest team.

San Antonio’s winning streak was tied for the third longest in franchise history. The Spurs, who have the league’s best scoring defense, had been holding opponents to just more than 42 percent from the field during their winning streak.

Milwaukee shot 53.4 percent and got a big lift from an unlikely contributor: Lynn Greer, who scored all of his career-high 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Heat 93, Nets 86: At East Rutherford, N.J., a foul-plagued Shaquille O’Neal scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half and Miami defeated New Jersey for its eighth straight win.

Udonis Haslem added 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Jason Williams had 13 points and 12 assists for the Heat.

Nuggets 113, Lakers 86: At Denver, Phil Jackson got fined $50,000 for accusing the league of having a vendetta against Kobe Bryant and then lost a seventh straight game for the first time in his coaching career as Los Angeles fell to Denver.

Linas Kleiza scored a career-high 29 points and Carmelo Anthony had 26 as the Nuggets handed the Lakers their 13th loss in 16 games.
