Car-B-Que show

Today is the annual Car-B-Que car show and barbecue at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road.

The show will feature a mix of custom, antique, classic and hot-rod cars. Awards and trophies will be given.

The event also includes a plant sale, ice cream and family-friendly activities.

It all runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The price of food varies; admission to other parts of the event is free.

Mother’s Day worship

Mothers are invited to a special worship service in honor of Mother’s Day at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Mission Community Presbyterian Church, 2103 E. Mission Ave.

The church also will host its annual yard sale today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mother’s Day brunch

The Christ Lutheran Child Center at Christ Lutheran Church will host its seventh annual Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday.

The meal, featuring Belgian waffles with fruit toppings, will be served from 7:15 to 10:30 a.m. Payment will be by donation.

The center also will raffle off prizes, host a silent auction and conduct the popular “balloon sweepstakes” that requires people to purchase a balloon and pop it to reveal a prize.

Worship services will begin at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. at the church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave. Children from the center will sing during the second service.

Family film

Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church will host a free showing of the family film “Happy Feet” at 7 p.m. Friday.

Refreshments will be served during the movie about a one-of-a-kind penguin. All are invited to attend.

Spiritual Cinema

Unity Church will host a showing of “Book of Stars” as part of its Spiritual Cinema series at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is by donation, and all are welcome.
