Detectives seek information on assault outside bar

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office major crimes detectives are looking for anyone who might have witnessed a vicious assault that bloodied one man and left a second unconscious in the parking lot of a Spokane Valley nightspot.

Officers were called to Goodtymes Pub, 9214 E. Mission Ave., by a taxi driver who saw a man kicked unconscious in the parking lot about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, said Spokane Valley Police spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.

The unconscious male, a 22-year-old Fairchild Air Force Base resident, had been pushed to the pavement by two suspects who then kicked and stomped the man in the head three to five times, the cabbie reported.

He said the victim remained on the ground unconscious for a minute or two, then got up onto his knees. One of the two suspects kicked the victim in the face again, knocking him out. He was taken to a Spokane Valley medical center and was released in stable condition Monday.

The second victim was a friend of the first victim who tried to intervene in the assault and was punched in the face numerous times.

The suspects got into a black Chevrolet or Caprice and fled the scene.

Detectives are hopeful the witnesses will come forward to assist in the investigation.

The first suspect was a white male in his early 20s, who was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was shirtless and wore khaki cargo pants or shorts, white tennis shoes and a black doo-rag on his head. He had a goatee and tattoos on one or both of his arms.

The second suspect was a white male as well, and there may have been two to four other males inside the Chevrolet.

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s major crimes unit at 242-TIPS.
