In brief: Treated water use topic of meeting

As part of plans to build a sewage treatment plant, Spokane County is looking into new ways to use the treated water that will come out of the facility.

Spokane County utilities officials will present information on a soon-to-be-developed study on reclaimed water use at a public meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Spokane Valley City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Ave.

People can comment on reclaimed water use, the new treatment plant and the environmental impact statement process.

Discuss new library at open house

The Spokane County Library District will hold the last of three open houses tonight on a proposal to replace the Spokane Valley Library.

Library officials are asking patrons for their thoughts on the design, location and cost of the building, which is expected to serve the greater Spokane Valley area for the next 50 years.

The meeting will be from 4 to 7 p.m. in the basement meeting room of the Spokane Valley Library, 12004 E. Main Ave.

Hoopfest tourney seeking volunteers

Hoopfest, the world’s largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament, is looking for 3,000 volunteers for the 18th annual tournament June 30 through July 1 in downtown Spokane.

The biggest need is for court monitors, who oversee the 400 Hoopfest courts to ensure that games are played fairly, in a timely manner and within the spirit of Hoopfest.

Monitors who volunteer the entire weekend will receive a package of Nike gear, including shoes.

Other volunteer opportunities are available. Individuals and groups are encouraged to sign up.

Ponderosa developent meeting today

A hearing on the proposed Ponderosa Estates North development is scheduled at 9 a.m. today at Spokane Valley City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Ave.

The development is on Ridgeview Avenue near Sundown and Woodruff roads.
