Batter Blaster convenient, tasty, too
It’s been a long time since food panel tasters were this surprised by a new product.
Our volunteers ate pancakes squirted and cooked on a griddle from the Organic Batter Blaster, a pressurized can with a nozzle. Most thought the hotcakes were fluffy and tasty initially: Your average breakfast fare. It was after we revealed the yellow canister that delivered the batter to the griddle that they got excited.
“Perfect pancake, golden brown, light soft texture,” said Jenny Whittaker. “I could be the best grandma ever making shapes with this. The ideas are endless.”
Vicki Deschaine starting planning her next weekend outing after she saw it. “Fluffy, moist, cakey. We just need some sausages,” she said. “I love the packaging, camping here we come. Oh, sprinkle blueberries on the batter. How easy?”
The pancakes were good enough to trick Larry Inman. “Very good. You fooled me,” he said. “I could have sworn they were from scratch.”
Marcia Oranen wasn’t that impressed with the cakes at first, giving them just two stars out of five for flavor. But after seeing the canister, she elevated her score by two stars. Overall, the Batter Blaster Pancake and Waffle Batter scored four stars out of five for flavor.
“I didn’t think they had the best texture, slightly tough. I hardly ever make pancakes,” Marcia Oranen said. “I am much more impressed after seeing the package – what a great delivery system.”
The Batter Blaster can be used to make pancakes or waffles. It is found in the refrigerated section of some area stores.
Of course, not everyone was wowed by the new canister cakes.
“I’m spoiled. (You) can’t beat made from scratch,” Marilyn Moore said. “Now, (pancake batter) comes in a pressurized can. What are we teaching my kids?”
Andy Hoye said he thought the pancakes were worth trying for the fun of it, if nothing else.
“Average, satisfactory flavor but the convenience is superb … try this if only for the novelty.”
