Three things we’ll be talking about this week

1More than 2,200 athletes are expected to participate in the Ironman triathlon in Coeur d’Alene Sunday. The race – a 2.4 mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run – starts at 6:25 a.m. and ends at midnight. Get there at 5 a.m. if you want to see “body marking” – and expect lots of road closures. Visit www.ironman.cda.com for details.

2Keeping with the sports theme, the Spokane Indians open their 2009 season on Saturday against the Yakima Bears. There will be opening-night fireworks and a schedule magnet giveaway at the 6:30 p.m. game at Avista Stadium. Find nformation on tickets and the team’s season schedule at www.spokaneindiansbaseball.com.

3A rare-books auction at Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas on Tuesday and Wednesday includes three complete sets of “Harry Potter” first editions, two of which are signed, and a first-printing English hardcover edition. The auction house believes the collection could fetch more than $100,000. Scour those bookshelves, Potter lovers; you could be sitting on a gold mine.
