Three things we’ll be talking about this week

1. After much anticipation, the next movie in the “Twilight” series, based on Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling vampire-romance novels, is here, ready to suck the blood from teen wallets starting Friday. “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” is expected to gross more than $250 million in the U.S. The literary phenomenon follows the love affair between immortal blood-sucker Edward and mortal Bella.

2. Stuff your face, speak your mind. But leave socioeconomic status at the door. Food For Thought, a local community organization, is planning a free meal this week at Central United Methodist Church to bring together the homeless and those from “more privileged places in society.” Dinner is served from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church, 518 W. 3rd Ave.

3. Sarah Palin is taking her show on the road. The former vice-presidential candidate begins her national book tour in small towns and midsize cities this week to promote “Going Rogue: An American Life,” The 413-page tell-all will be released Tuesday. The book blames Palin’s 2008 campaign media mishaps on Sen. John McCain’s aides, says the Wall Street Journal.
