Crash near Sandpoint kills child, injures two others

A 2-year-old girl was killed and two others were injured in a one-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon east of Sandpoint.

Katlyn Price died Sunday after being taken to Bonner General Hospital following the 1:40 p.m. crash on state Highway 200 at Pack River.

Idaho State Police said the driver, Ashlee Price, 18, was headed west when she went off the north shoulder and overcorrected.

Her 1997 Toyota 4Runner dropped down a steep embankment, landing upside down in four feet of water.

Price, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected.

Passers-by pulled Katlyn Price and 5-year-old Tyson Ruel from the vehicle.

All three were taken to Bonner General, where Ashlee Price was in stable condition Monday.

Ruel was transferred Sunday to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where he was in satisfactory condition Monday.
