Area roundup: Stags reach district in volleyball

With Kimmie Brazington and Lauren Powell leading the way, Deer Park swept Medical Lake, 25-15, 26-24, 25-19, in a Great Northern League volleyball tie-breaker Monday night at West Valley to advance to 2A District 7 play.

The Stags (3-15), who will play at East Valley (8-6) on Wednesday in the first round of district, got six kills and a match-high 15 digs from Brazington and six kills and three aces from Powell.

Becky Trout had five kills and two blocks for the Cardinals (1-15).

Men’s golf

Gonzaga junior Oliver Grabb used a sand wedge to score a hole-in-one on the 128-yard 16th hole on the Puakea Golf Course in Lihue, Kaua’i, during the second round of the Kaua’i Invitational en route to a 2-over-par 74.
