From the depths: Using a 150-ton crane barge, right, crews successfully raise a 73-foot vessel from Puget Sound off the West Seattle neighborhood of Seattle Saturday evening. The World War II-era LCM-8, called the Justin, was being used in a bulkhead project in Puget Sound when it sank Friday, leaking an unknown amount of diesel and creating a sheen on the water about 600 feet by 300 feet. Coast Guard Capt. Scott Ferguson estimated that 100 gallons leaked out. The vessel’s owner reported there was approximately 300 gallons of diesel and 50 gallons of motor oil on board.
