“Meek’s Cutoff”: Homesteaders on the Oregon Trail lose their way in Kelly Reichardt’s beautifully observed, determinedly poky Western, starring, among a small band of others, Michelle Williams and Will Patton, last seen together in Reichardt’s similarly low-key, low-budget outing, “Wendy and Lucy.” (1:44; PG for some mild violent content, brief language and smoking) • • •

“Hesher”: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, looking nothing like the cute guy he was in “(500) Days of Summer,” is a long-haired, muscled-up, seriously tattooed stranger who moves in, uninvited, to a grief-stricken family’s home and proceeds to shake things up. With Natalie Portman and Rainn Wilson. (1:42; R for disturbing violent content including graphic dialogue, pervasive language and drug content, some in the presence of a child) • •

“Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop”: Documentary portrait of O’Brien’s post-“Tonight Show” comedy tour while he was banned from television. (1:29; R for language)

“Incendies”: Twins journey to the Middle East to discover their family history, and fulfill their mother’s last wishes, in this Oscar-nominated Canadian film. (2:10; R for some strong violence and language)
