Indians lose doubleheader at Everett

EVERETT – The Spokane Indians doubled down Saturday in a pair of games with the Everett AquaSox at rainy Memorial Stadium.

The AquaSox won both seven-inning games of the doubleheader, 6-3 and 2-0, respectively.

Seon Gi Kim started the second game for Everett and pitched a no-hitter through six innings, striking out 13 of the 20 batters he faced. Gonzaga product Royce Bolinger broke up the no-no bid with a one-out single to center in the seventh off reliever Brandon Plotz.

In the first game, delayed by rain for more than an hour, Carlton Tanabe’s RBI double in the third gave Everett a 2-0 lead. The AquaSox added another run on one of four wild pitches from Spokane (1-8) starter David Perez.

After Everett (7-2) made it 6-0 in the fourth, Preston Beck hit a two-out, two-run home run and Bolinger followed with a solo shot to left-center for the first professional home runs for both Spokane players.

Indians manager Tim Hulett was ejected late in the first game for arguing a call with home-plate umpire Andrew Risley and returned for the second game, only to have Risley throw him out again in the fourth. Spokane catcher Joe Maloney was also ejected in the second game.
