‘Idol’ fans, take note: Hicks at the Hive

Bluegrass, indie fests also among options next weekend

It’s never a bad idea to plan ahead.

So get out your calendars and make some notes. There are some fine entertainment options in store for the weekend of Aug. 9.

Such as, a late post-Festival at Sandpoint show on Aug. 10 at The Hive with Taylor Hicks, the fifth season winner of American Idol.

Or the three-day Blue Waters Bluegrass Festival in Medical Lake, featuring multiple bands, workshops, jamming and even camping.

In Post Falls, the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center won a grant to create IndieFest, an outdoor concert set for the Higgins Pavilion in Kiwanis Park on Aug. 10. The show features local rock-blues band Vinyl Instinct and the Colorado-based alt-folk group Changing Colors.
