Neah Bay defeats Touchet 36-18 for 1B state title

TACOMA – Cody Cummins rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries to help Neah Bay defeat Touchet 36-18 on Friday night for its second 1B state title in three years.

Quarterback Josiah Greene rushed 19 times for 145 yards and a touchdown as Neah Bay (12-0) rallied from a 12-0 first-quarter deficit in the eight-man game at the Tacoma Dome.

Elias Martinez completed 9 of 14 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns to lead Touchet (12-2). Martinez added 76 yards rushing on seven attempts.

Neah Bay lost to Liberty Christian last year in the championship game after winning its first title in 2011.

Tyler McCaulley ran 5 yards for a touchdown to give Neah Bay a 28-12 lead early in the fourth quarter.

The Red Devils had stopped Touchet on a fake punt late in the third quarter at the Neah Bay 44 before driving for the score.
