WSP identifies Montana woman who died in 10-vehicle crash near Ritzville

From staff reports
The Washington State Patrol identified the woman killed in Friday’s 10-vehicle collision east of Ritzville as 52-year-old Jean B. Amidon. Amidon, who is from Whitefish, Mont., died at the scene Friday after she rear ended a tractor-trailer stopped for collisions on westbound Interstate 90, according to a news release. She was then struck by a third vehicle, triggering a chain reaction that resulted in a 10-vehicle pileup seven miles east of Ritzville on I-90. Excessive speed was a factor in the crash, according to WSP. Of the 11 people involved in the crash, four were injured and transported to East Adams Rural Hospital. A hospital representative said those individuals have since been transported. Eight of the vehicles were towed from the scene. The accident, which occurred at 12:46 p.m., blocked westbound I-90 for more than 12 hours, according to the release. Emergency crews cleared the scene shortly after midnight Saturday morning.
