Obituary: Dorn, Rebecca “Becky” (Bradburn)

Age 60

DORN, Rebecca “Becky” (Bradburn) (Age 60) Becky was born October 18, 1952 to Jerry and Frances Bradburn in Oakland, CA.

She passed away January 20, 2013 peacefully in her Spokane home with her husband by her side.

She was known and is remembered for her positive outlook, great compassion and strength which marked the last 19 months as she fought the return of breast cancer with peace and dignity.

As a child, she moved often with her family and graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1971.

Becky joined the Air Force in 1974 and married Chris Dorn in 1977.

She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from Eastern Washington University in 1979.

In 2007, she retired from 33 years of military service, which included four years active and 29 years with the Washington Air National Guard where she spent 22 years as a technician with the 242 CBCS.

She loved and attended The Unity Center of North Spokane, serving in countless ways including six years as board secretary.

She was a voracious reader, skilled sewer, and immensely enjoyed sharing good food and drink with family and friends.

She loved to travel, including six foreign military deployments, and her retirement was highlighted by two unforgettable trips to Europe.

She will be fondly remembered for her kindness, tenacious loyalty and uncanny ability to bring out the best in her friends.

She is survived by her husband Chris of 35 years and three children, Kim (Nathan) Dunlap, Sydney (Rick) Seavey and Taylor Dorn.

She is also survived by one beloved grandson, Garrett Dunlap, a granddaughter on the way, two brothers, David (Marianne) Bradburn, Bruce (Julie) Bradburn, and six nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, January 26th at The Unity Center of North Spokane, 4123 E. Lincoln Rd, Spokane, WA 99217.
