Kelly, Jois lead Eagles to victory

IRVINE, Calif. – Six players, led by Parker Kelly and Venky Jois, scored in double figures as the Eastern Washington Eagles jumped out to a 28-1 lead and cruised to a 102-70 win over the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds (2-2) on Saturday in Irvine, Calif., in the 2K Sports Classic.

Eastern had five 3-pointers in the first seven minutes to open the huge lead, with Kelly hitting three of them and scoring 11 points during the run. The 102 points was the most Eastern (4-1) scored against a Division I opponent since beating Cal State Fullerton 110-100 on Nov. 27, 2006.

“It was a complete game turned in by everyone,” said EWU coach Jim Hayford.

Kelly finished the game with a team-high 17 points, as did Jois. Tyler Harvey added 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and Brandon Harvey finished with 13 points and seven assists. Martin Seiferth scored 12 and Thomas Reuter chipped in with 13.
