Louis R. (Age 100) Rev.

Louis R. Buckley, former resident of the Spokane area, passed away February 7th in Portland, OR, at the age of 100.

He had pastored in Reardan, WA before moving to Spokane in the late 40’s to assist in the establishment of NW Christian Schools.

He was the founder/director of Inland Empire Bible Conference until moving to Plummer, ID, in 1961 where he was pastor of Bethel Chapel.

Louis and his wife, Betty, moved to Coeur d’Alene where he worked for JC Penney while also pastoring the Baptist Church in Harrison, ID.

After pastoring the Brethren church in Sunnyside, he trained as a hospital chaplain, returned to the Portland area where he served as a hospital chaplain in Milwaukie and then Salem, OR, where he retired at the age of 72.

He and Betty moved to Auburn, WA, to be near family where Betty passed away in August of 2000.

Louis returned to Portland where he and Betty met and married while attending Cascade College; he resided there until his death.

Louis is survived by his son, David, of Puyallup, WA, his daughter, Sharon Gilbert (Dennis) of Auburn, WA, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
